24th update??

Can anyone here tell if the update has been applied? I'm refering to the update that will help the remote control delays. I haven't checked my V+ box (Silver TVDrive) yet.

I'm not aware of what the update may look like and to be honest think it's only a bit of hear say that it's coming.

I'm a happy V+ customer and would just like more HD content.

Re: 24th update??

I doubt very much if Virgin would risk rolling out an update on a Saturday, and risk screwing up weekend TV for millions of customers. Updates traditionally have taken place on Tuesdays to Thursday (or they have in Coventry at least).

Re: 24th update??

So I'm not to panic that the VOD still doesn't work on V+ or samsumng boxes (gets as far as says "playing" with subsequent blank screen.)

Called in, nice chap, insisted enginer vist and second line support not on his troublesorting "script". Still wonder if it is something that could be sorted out without engineers call, await events

It can't be sorted with engineers. 2nd line faults fixed mine on the same day (even though I was told it might take 2 or so). It's to do with miscommunication and mispairing of the boxes with certain information. I thought I needed to wait for the updates, but I called in for something on my Samsung (no VOD) - they couldn't find a problem so they said they would forward it to 2nd line faults. They called me back later that evening and had fixed both the Samsung's problem and the red button V+ problem and said there were small problems with each. An on-site person can't do anything. So call 'faults' and ask them to escalate it to 2nd line faults.

Well hopefully you get an engineer who's had enough of these all he'll need to do is make a quick phone call and get it sorted. Good luck

Re: 24th update??

Thank you again - having met with a brick wall with CS am pessimistic. Could I trouble you to give me the low down about what actually needs to be done to resolve this i.e. what ought I to ask the engineer to get CS to do to sort this. Would be v useful so it is not a wasted journey -stilll can't believe it's in CS's interest to send out engineers needlessly.

Re: 24th update??

Sometimes it takes more than one try for me even on ch 0, I presume you've had a few tries.
This is supposed to be being fixed along with the other bugs.

When 2nd line faults called me back he said there had been a couple of small issues with both boxes. He did say it was a pairing issue, but reading what others have written I don't think it was a card pairing issue, but the same issue that others have said - the wrong box was coded as being the primary box which meant loss of VOD on the samsung, and loss of red button on the V+.

Hope this helps.

I haven't received any Updates at all.

I'm under the understanding that the 2.1.7.1 and 11.1.8_ukcable versions were the latest, and that would be the only one to be rolled out by 28th... and that's what I have.

Got fed up waiting so 'phoned faults again and (politely) said fix it or take the whole sevice out, She did a diagnostic on the box and said it was coming up as a manufacturing fault, tech' coming this am (I hope:rolleyes: )

Re: 24th update??/VOD

Engineer came , all worked fine on both V+ box and Samsung. Also worked when I set up Spooks when he was out at his van. Overjoyed, but felt a right pi**ock having had engineer visit as it worked straight away. So off he goes, yours truely thinking "I bet he read the fault beforehand and called in CS etc to resolve it". Called family in to demonstrate all ok........but it wasn't, back to old scenario, gets as far as "now playing" with logo and then blank screen. Same old Samsung box, disheartened, phone CS. Talks me through each step of the way, I now thinking I'm becoming very prematurely senile. But no, all agree am doing all that I ought. CS have me retrieve card info from both cards (remember, as advised here, engineer shouldn't/wouldn't be needed - CS having been previously totally6 dismissive) .
"Maybe cards to boxes/pairing not as it should , often causes intermittent VOD". He cannot invoke changes to cards, escalates fault to second line.
Several times this pm try VOD, no can do. Try this pm, lo and behold, it works - or at least works for some programmes, others stiul leaves blank screen. Other times leaves a screeching intermittent sound with ~100th of pixels showing. Also have discivered (with removingl/reinsering card into back of V+ box during CS call) that the HDMI input connection is very position sensitive.

Upshot
Do I have a dodgy box, pardon the expression!?
Has the problem been resolved, and programmes not playing a sign of over subscription?
Or do I still have the intermittent fault?

No ideas, very frustrating; great system when it works but when is the operative word.

Will liase back when have had a day or two more under my belt - immagine faults will also phone me back. Thus far, no idea what has changed.
Hamish
