What if I don't WANT Virgin Media?
I got a letter about the 4 for £40 thing today. But I don't want to know, because:
I don't want to pay for any TV package because I don't even have a TV; I'm quite happy with my pay-as-you-go mobile service (in as much as I'm happy to have a mobile at all, which I'm not - I put £10 on the card when I got the damn thing, and I haven't had to top it up since...this was in December 2005); Ditto with my NTL phone line (which I hardly ever use); And why the hell should I downgrade to 2MB when I'm currently getting 4? The package as it stands is no use to me at all. Can I opt out? |
Re: What if I don't WANT Virgin Media?
was it forcing you onto a package?

Re: What if I don't WANT Virgin Media?
Don't believe they're compulsory (yet) - you may wish to re-read it.

Oh, there are some things worth watching, but not enough IMO to justify the expense of a TV and cable service...not to mention the bloody licence. What few shows I am interested in I either watch on DVD or my dad records them so I can watch 'em at weekends when I visit. The rest of the time I browse online, read or play with my cat. :p: I got the impression that Virgin Media was replacing the current NTL services, but I may be wrong. I hope so; I don't want to change anything. |
Re: What if I don't WANT Virgin Media?
Cut out quote but responding to the above message
If you call up customer care, the representatives can remove you from their mailing list. This is to also comply with the MPS. http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/ Once registered any company to mail you that doesnt have "To the occupier" can be fined. Companies are still allowed to mail you under the header "To the occupier" means its not personal, and therefore not harrasment. NTL merged their customers onto the system that Telewest used. (Ex employee of Telewest up until Dec 2006.) The representative can access your account for your address (Even tho your not a customer, you will have an account for your address) Then they can access the details for your property and change it to no contact. However, if your receiving mail from Virgin Mobile as a Virgin Mobile customer I cannot help as im unaware of Virgin Mobiles systems. Plus registering with the MPS only wont cause Virgin Mobile any financial loss if they continue since your an existing customer of theirs, and it only protects you agains unsolicitated mail from companies you are not registered with. (Marketing mail in the same way as cold calling from unknown companies) Also as Matt D stated 4 for 40 is 1 of many products. Maybe Internet, and phone is something you would be interested in, give them a ring and see it they can meet or do something that meets your lifestyle |

Re: What if I don't WANT Virgin Media?
2 people I know recently (in the last week) called VM stating none of the bundles they offer suit their needs. The told them what they wanted and VM gave them just that there and then along with a MASSIVE saving over their previous monthly bill. One of them saved £40 a month just by telling them exactly what HE wanted. Just try talking to people. Companies are often a LOT more accommodating than customers give them credit for.
