Virgin Advert last night

I was watching tv last night and low and behold a advert from Virgin came on, in this advert by Virgin was the offer for I quote " download as much as you like with UNLIMITED connection to Broadband", Are Virgin rubbing salt into our wounds, Or is it a play on words, where the advert is perfectly correct in what there are saying, providing you are not in the Swansea and Preston region.....:Yikes::mad:
Its ok for cable BB costomers to say its a good thing for the traffic shaping, but they are Not in the test area, untill there have been subjected to this reduction in service they should not pass judgment. Very soon I hope they will have the pleasure of this New service provided FREE with the complimets of Virgin.:wtf::redcard:

Beyond speed, Virgin don't place any limits on how much you can download. BB doesn't cut off after a certain amount. You don't get charged extra.

Yes, the speed is limited, and while I personally am not a fan of traffic shaping, the speed is limited whether your connection is shaped or not.

Your first quote is wrong... read the small print on download speed in there document of traiding.. your connection will be reduced if over use of the system, therefore a limit must be in use for a guide to be in effect.......
Do you mean that Virgin are telling a Porky pie, when they say that they are only trying this Traffic shaping police in swansea & preston, when in fact everybody is getting T.S, I have never had a problem with my connection,I have a exelent service from NTL, that is untill the trial started in my area last month.
Please forgive me if you think im having a go at you personel, I am not, but it's so infuriating when you see a advert (Virgin BB) that is full of bull dropings....
Tell it as it is..... Virgin Internet connection is "Traffic Shaped":Yikes:

dont make me angry, you wont like me when I'm angry...

moving on.....

I got a flyer today from Virgin re their new deals and it said something like "unlike other broadband suppliers, the speed advertised is the speed you get cos unlike ADSL, cable is not affected by the distance from your exchange". As traffic shaping and congestion can affect the speed you get I think it's unfair to sell it on the web site as 'upto' but on flyers as 'what you see is what you get'.

lmao if you had anything under your skull you would have realised this is just another traffic shaping thread and seeing as there is already one running you could have just posted this there instead of another whining thread.

Nothing under my skull well I laugh in your face cuz my rep isnt just for posts and the number of helpful post awards ive had in 2 years aint bad for someone who you consider has a useless brain

The BB is unlimited, just because the speed reduces does mean you can't d/l, will just take a bit longer. Others have to use the service as well, why should big leechers get full speed all the time. The service is advertised as upto...

I'm not one for caring about reps and i speak my mind generally, so add me to the list of people you are probably mad at and dishing the nasties out on, but you tell us you arn't one to start out looking for an argument, just prior to telling everyone on a public forum that unless you live in Swansea or the other area, you arn't allowed to pass judgement. hmm

Edit: Apologies Stuart, i posted before i saw yours, will be quiet now.

if you use the quote feature (and maybe the search feature) it would work better

I reiterate my rhetoric from other shaping threads . Im quite happy as a heavy user to have my speed capped from 10 meg to 5 meg at peak times its fine imo its a good idea and is fair for all and coming from someone as selfish as me if I can deal with it everyone should be able to. This forum has been inundated by posts from people who see shaping mentioned and assume everything wrong with there net is this and this is bull. The 2 threads already on this subject have discussed shaping massively and got nowhere as this thread will too

I'll restate my position too. Yes i think it's alright.

Business's will never supply infrastructure for 5% of individuals, it doesn't make economic sense, we have a similar situation in my organisation where we have enough licences for a database we use to cover a third of the staff. Is it fair in exceptional circumstances there some staff can't get onto the system right when they want? No it's not, but that's the reality we live in. Money should never be wasted.

On a light hearted note, i think you have foiled your own argument, as i wasn't aware Virgin had any profit! heh

ok here's the Virgin flyer I got today word for word:-

"the speed advertised is the speed you get, as it doesn't matter how far you live from the telephone exchange - unlike other broadband providers"

no small print or whatever to mention that there is contention or congestion during the busy hours which can reduce your speed.

if you think the advert is unfair, complain to ofcom.
