Best broadband deals uk

Hello, I use the internet on a daily basis, and need a fast connection, but would also like a good landline telephone deal. Do any members know of any isp deals.

:welcome: to Cable Forum. :)

If you can get NTL:telewest, soon to be called Virgin Media then have a look at the pack deals here. http://home.ntl.com/

Would definitely recommend Virgin Media (ntl:telewest) if you want a fast connection. A lot better than the ADSL alternatives.

What speed do you actually get though? Do you really get 16mb?

Depends On How Near You Are From Your Exchange, Upload Is Said To Be 768Kbps.

Most people aren't able to get Sky Broadband and certainly not 16mbit.

I'm sorry but you just can't say that - in your experience it may. You just can't say Ntl will suit the poster without getting more info.

Personally Ntl was rubbish for me - Sky is much better (touch wood) it all depends on the circumstances of the user.

I'm 0.9 kilometers from my exchange (as the crow flies) using BeBroadband Unlimited and getting 5.5mbps but the modem is synchronizing at 14mbps... Should I just get cable in my case?

Re: Best broadband deals uk

I'd discuss the matter with Be first - it may be contention in your exchange. :)

Sorry, yes I was refering to my own experience. I have ntl 4mb BB and BT Business 8mb BB and my ntl connection is a lot quicker. ADSL depends on where you live and the quality of the line and so on...

You can visit here and here to get some idea's on Eclipse. Both of those sites are excellent resources, for customer feedback.

Re: Best broadband deals uk

I signed up to Be just over a month ago. The promise of 24meg broadband was a good carrot to dangle. It caught me. Unfortunately I only get 0.9meg. Not quite the lightning speed promised. Customer support is okay I guess. They promise to get back to you within 24 hours and actually manage to do it within 4 days (I've seen worse). I asked them if I could go onto the cheaper 8meg package as they blatantly miss-sold me but they waved the contract at me and said I had to pay 12 months at the high rate for the service they knew they could not provide. Perhaps they have been good for other customers but my experience over the past 6 weeks has not been positive and I strongly urge any potential customer to tread carefully. ***BeBroadband? Buyer Beware!***

Hmmm, thats disturbing, not to dis your experience but..........

How far are you from your exchange?
What service did you sign up for?

As far as I can see, with the Pro service at least, you can leave without penalty by giving 3 months notice.

Others have reported Be refusing service when the local infrastructure did not come up to scratch. I wonder why this did not happen with you.
