Eugh its black
Hi all
Ive just had NTL tv drive installed today, well i was at work and the OH was here to get it installed. Anyway came home and its bloody black!!! who the hell has black appliances these days it sticks out like a sore thumb. I dont even think you can buy black tv's and dvd players anymore. When i got the leaflet from virgin media it showed the box as being silver, but oh no theyve given me this cheapo nasty 80's looking nasty box that sticks out more than jordons chest. Not only did the guy on the phone lie to me.. i cant believe I trusted him about which HD channels they had, he didnt mention anything about getting an 80's throw back looking appliance. Has anyone else got the silver one, and if so how did you get it? and is there any chance on earth Virgin peeps would change it. I cant have that, i need some cupboard now to hide the bloody thing. Ive spent over £1700 on my set up, but now it all looks like i just couldnt be bothered to buy things that look nice and threw it all together. Cheers |
Re: Eugh its black
Not being funny but outside there are far more serious things than a black digi stb. They are black tough. Ntl won't change it for a different colour same as sky would not.

Re: Eugh its black
The silver ones are the NTL TV Drive and Telewest boxes. From now one all new installs are to be the Black Virgin Branded V+ Boxes.

The only reason im saying this is because I know I saw a silver box, it didnt show a black one and now I know why.... If they had no intention of sending a silver one then they should never have showed this to me. You can bet your boots ill be on the phone tomorrow... I WANT A SILVER BOX :D I dont know what ive started, but i assume by the quick 'tough luck' post this has all happened before. And yes are there are more important things outside, but im not outside i'm in my house... and that things NOT staying. They either change it, i cancel it and they take it back, or the spray cans coming out. |

Unless you get a refurbished TV Drive in 6 months or so. They're not just going to throw all of the silver ones away, when they're replaced ;) If they did throw away all "faulty" boxes, I'd probably have had a Samsung box AGES ago, instead of PACE after PACE after PACE (I currently have a PACE box, with "Telewest:Active Digital" stamped all over it) |
Re: Eugh its black
I think with the refurbished ones they might actually get them made black.

Also to the OP good luck if you call up, technically you have no reason to get out of your contract. They have supplied the equipment your requested. It's even a bloody upgrade on the silver one and your still moaning. I would not have refunded, chaged a thing for you. |

If the colour is that offensive, I would recommend you either go to Sky (although last time I checked, the Sky + box was white and the Sky HD box was black), or put the STB in a well-ventillated cupboard and use some sort of remote extender to relay the remote control signals to it. |
Re: Eugh its black
Most modern HD screens are black now - get with the times! :)

Re: Eugh its black
TBH I was hoping to get a black box, as I've always preferred black as a colour for my A/V kit. Chiefly, my Yammy amp is black.
However, I received a silver box. But it has a black stripe across the middle and looks surprisingly smart. In the end, my stack is a mixture of black and silver and it looks like it will continue to be so for a while :D |
Re: Eugh its black
Yeah come on!
Black's the new...... err................. Black! :D |
Re: Eugh its black
Silver and black combined is the new black, eg my Philips LCD TV and Harman Kardon amp :)

Re: Eugh its black
black is the new silver and my lcd hd tv is both black and silver

I do have a technical reason to get out of the contract... i have a grace period where i can cancel it, i was told so when i ordered it, so your wrong. I wouldnt know about the previous one as I havent had the TV before. Stuart C - I never asked for red didnt you read what i wrote? im not asking them to manufacture something that doesnt exsist. The only reason i want a silver one is because ive seen one on the leaflet they sent me, and i assumed i would of got a silver one. Evidently they do make them, and so I should of been given a choice or at least told about it. Its like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey... you can look, but you cant have it. And if everyone likes black then thats there opinion.. I personally bought silver, and chose all my products on that basis. I cant get through on the phone now... will have to try later on. |
Re: Eugh its black

Re: Eugh its black
I've been told if the silver ones break down and need replacing, it'll be replaced by a BLACK ONE!!!
*dum dum duuuuuuuuuum* *shock horror* |
Re: Eugh its black
My new TV is black with a tiny silver surround. Sky HD is black with a small amount of silver. Perhaps your kit is out of date now ;)
At least you have your health hey?! You said you 'bought' a silver one. Did you ring up and say 'Hi, I am ringing to subscribe to the rental of the SILVER TVDrive advertised on your leaflet' ... or was it more 'Can I have a V+ box please' ? |
