Printer installation problems
I have been trying to install a new printer for hours.
I follow the instructions, which state to plug the printer into the USB port, turn on the printer, cancel any windows pop-up which attempt to install the drivers, insert the CD and start the installation. When the CD is inserted, the installation begins but then it states that there is a problem with the connection. I have tried everything I can think of. Anyone know how to deal with this? |
Re: Printer installation problems
Strange, normally you have to install drivers first and then plug it in. What printer is it?

Re: Printer installation problems
Do you see the pop-ups or anything from Windows to show that it has found new hardware (a little icon in the system tray). If not it could be the USB cable, do you have any other USB device who's cable you know works.

Re: Printer installation problems
Remove all drivers you have installed for the printer.....unplug it from the usb port.....install drivers...then plug it in
Or plug it in and go to system properties..Hardware....Device Manager...and see if it is listed there...if so right click and update drivers(With the cd in the drive) and try that |

Re: Printer installation problems
Do you have a USB2 port on your PC?
|
Re: Printer installation problems
I have tried going through the device manager but was unable to install the drivers with that process.

There's a reason their printers are so cheap, not much is spent on the software. Dumb is being kind. DW |

Re: Printer installation problems
That's because you haven't installed drivers yet. Have you tried downloading them?

Tried that, no luck!

Re: Printer installation problems
Have you tried doing a system restore, to a point before you started with the printer?
