Jericho

Saw a trailer for this, coming to the Hallmark channel.

Looks good.

Just wikipedia'd it, about the aftermath of a nuclear attack on the USA, looks to be a bit ofa Lost clone - which is no bad thing.

Looks good - Friday 12th Jan, then one on Sunday, then back to Friday 19th.

I have seen a few of these and I found it very good indeed :)

Re: Jericho

Yes indeed, I've watched the first half of the season and it's quite good - it's not a 'Lost' clone though, totally different.

Oh this is a threads meets dawson's creek sort of a show :)

Watched tonight's repeat of the first ep.

Quite good. Definitely got potential.

Re: Jericho

I gave up, the amount of adverts made the whole thing unwatcheable :(

Tezcatlipoca 15-01-2007 01:19

Re: Jericho

Yeah, the ad breaks were pretty bloody annoying.

I think I may watch it the same way as Dilli & Paul.....no adverts then...

It's currently on hiatus in the US, after an 11 episode run. The second half of season 1 starts in the US on Feb 21st with episode 12.

Pierre 15-01-2007 08:55

Re: Jericho

Yes, I was impressed. I've "series linked" on the sky box. Watch it on play back and skip through the ads.

TheBlueRaja 15-01-2007 09:38

Re: Jericho

Snap, heard about this on the radio, Sky+'d it and watched it the other night (ads? What ads :D)

Quite good so far.

Hugh 18-01-2007 10:09

Re: Jericho

For any ex-sigs (or radio hams) out there, a little geek fact.

The first Jericho episode had "j e r i c h o p i l o t" in morse code played over the intro, when the word Jericho came up.

Had to rewind a couple of times to check, as it has been a long time since I heard morse.

Xaccers 19-01-2007 23:57

Last episode was good, kept me and the missus on the edge of our seats from begining to end :)

Yep, good one last night :)

Xaccers 20-01-2007 23:59

Re: Jericho

I liked how rather than showing every city that had been hit, which really we don't need to know, they just showed him picking up pin after pin, giving you the idea of just how many cities were now gone.

Tezcatlipoca 21-01-2007 13:31

Re: Jericho

Yep, quite good that final scene.

Wonder who that guy is.... he obviously knows more about the situation than he's letting on.... involved with the people behind it, or perhaps some sort of Govt guy, Fed, CIA, or something???...

MovedGoalPosts 21-01-2007 13:37

Re: Jericho

He said in ep one that he was an ex police officer from somewhere like New Orleans, but he's just a tad clued up for that cover story :erm:

Could be, I think you were supposed to suspect him to be something dodgy when he lied about the radio not working, but then you saw him with his family, and found out what the message was, suggesting he had good reason to lie, to prevent panic.
If you were in that situation, small town, but involved in the CIA/FBI etc, I wouldn't want people to know too much, incase I was ever hung out to dry by them to the people who committed the attacks.

Pierre 22-01-2007 08:31

Re: Jericho

I think he's definitely secret service of some type, and that he was tipped off that something was going to happen and so he moved his family to somewhere they'd be safe.

Hugh 03-02-2007 15:16

Re: Jericho

In yesterday's episode, the morse code that played over the "Jericho" in the opening titles was "he knows rob" - and lo and behold, he did.

So he and others knew something was going to happen, and planned an escape.

Wonder where the traitor comes into that though?

Tezcatlipoca 04-02-2007 02:07

Re: Jericho

Indeed.

He & his associates obviously knew that something was going to happen, & planned accordingly.

But did they know due to being involved, or due to being with the government?

And which side is the traitor a traitor to.......

Anyway.

Really liking this so far.

Not up there with BSG or Prison Break, IMO, but I'm enjoying it more than I have been Lost.

Good one tonight.

Slowly finding out more about Jake's background, plus more good bits with Hawkins.

I thought they were in a box, not the drum? Can't remember now if you saw the drum contents or not.

Paul 23-02-2007 12:17

Re: Jericho

Episode 12 gives the background to his involvement with the bombs.

Spoiler:

He was part of the group that planted all the bombs - it appears (but is unconfirmed) that he is a government agent that infiltrated the group. He rescued his family using a truck containing one of the bombs !

So 3 men were caught with a "20Kton device in a drum" in NY
I think we know a bit more about Hawkins now.
Glad Dale finally had enough and left the store.

Did anyone else notice in a previous episode, when Hawkins logged on to his ruggedised laptop, the homepage was in Cyrillic?

And re the "drum" above, didn't he wall a drum up in his cellar?

Yup, and he surrounded it with concrete which could be to dampen any radiation leakage.

I dont know why, but i suspect the woman who can to collect Tax from farmer boy is involved too... Government is still Government after all.

Forgot about this thread.

Anyway.

Still watching Jericho. Great show, makes a change from 24 & Lost.

The Hallmark channel has currently stopped after episode 11 (the same place that it went on hiatus in the US from November to February), & I think it's back on in May, for eps 12-22 (second half of the season).

I think I may watch it via other means, rather than wait for Hallmark to start up again.

It's definitely much better without the ad breaks that Hallmark insist upon. And I really want to know why the bombs were set off in the first place.

That was a cool one, showing what went on before the bombs exploded.
A bit more about Hawkins' past and involvment with them, and what was the incident in Iraq that Jake mentioned?
How will Hawkins' gf react when she meets him again?

Hmm, that's a real shame, Jericho was good and ended on a great cliff hanger.

Still, I'm pleased to see 'The Unit' returning, as well as 'How I Met Your Mother' (and 'Bones' and 'Supernatural' are getting third seasons as well).

Not after the first few episodes. But on the other hand if people don't watch it on TV, there won't be the money to fund programme development. After all what created a problem for Jericho was a small audience so the TV company didn't see that it had sufficient appeal to make it pay.

Re: Jericho

Finally caught up with the rest of season 2 this weekend.

What a finale!

Spoiler:
So, I guess when it eventually returns "mid-season" next year, those marines will come & stop the fight & save Jericho just-in-the-nick-of-time....although hopefuly not before Jake has exacted revenge upon Constantino.

But then Valente, the dodgy Homeland Security bloke (bald guy who was in "Murder One") will be after Hawkins & his bomb....

Does he want it 'cos it's evidence he was involved in the attacks? Or, is it so his chosen Administration in Cheyenne, Wyoming, can defeat the other rival Administrations? Or both...

Notice the US flag in the Marine camp? Quite a few stars missing!

The finale is on Hallmark tonight, Sky+ is set...

So glad they are making a second season, i love this show, somebody like sky should pick it up so that it gets better ratings and we get better bit rates.
