Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
You'll need to install drivers for Win98 from your install disk, assuming you have one. Failing that download the driver from here....
http://www.mpmaneurope.com/download.aspx?file_id=435 After installation Win98 should then see the MpMan, so that you drag & drop your files. Rossco555 |

Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
It needs unzipping and follow the instructions given. If you double click on the file, it should start automatically. If there's a problem, you might need a small proggy like Winzip or something similar. Post again if you get stuck, as I'm sure someone can point you to a freeware proggy out there??????

Once the drivers or whatever have installed okay, check Windows Explorer - it should see the player as a Removable Disk and give it a drive letter. You can then treat it as any other drive - move, copy and/or delete files. These players don't need any specific software unless you're transferring DRM-protected files, in which case the licence has to be copied to the player as well. I have a Samsung job which won't play DRM files if they've been copied or moved via Explorer, or even via Media Player, but if I play the track first in Media Player (so as to acquire the licence) and then transfer it using the software supplied, it's quite happy with that. Let us know how you get on! |
Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
i have downloded the zip file how do i unzip the file?

Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
I should think you double click it...it ought to be self extracting...just give it a go. Fingers crossed!!

Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
i have unzipped the file and it still doesnt recognise the mp3 player as a removable disk
|
Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
The only thing I can suggest is to try installing the drivers first, B4 you connect up your MP3 player. You should then be able to see it as a removable drive in my computer

Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
Mine worked fine...just plugged it in to the USB port and dragged some mp3's onto it.
I just need to get some descent music now LOL. |
Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
My only other thought was with the version of 98 you are using. Is it Win 98 or Win 98SE?. The USB implementation was very flakey in the first version but much better on SE.

Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
I have a question, how old is your PC princesselle?
Have you ever thought of upgrading maybe? Oh and yes the little disc that come with the mp3 player should contain the drivers for your mp3 player. |
Re: can anyone help with connecting a mp3 player to computer?
i had same problem when switching pc's. not recognised or the only options where to format or open. nothing worked but this is what i did. plug player into usb and leave turned on. go to windows update sit and check for updates, drivers and firmware. the site will scan ur pc and recognise that there is a drive that requires update. download, install, restart and it should be recognised as mass storage device, and a extra drive when u click on my computer. it worked for me. good luck.,,manico
