How many people here work for ntl:telewest?

Just so I can get an idea, also if you mind which department.

I work for them, in the NSC/FMC.

Just a reminder to all users that they should only give their personal details to people who the CF team have confirmed work for ntl:telewest.

This is not to suggest that any who have posted here aren't trustworthy.

Having no cabinet details, Telco faults with no routing details, Telco fault when it's a DTV fault so you can't use lap top to replace faulty STB, booking a fault when it's an account issue, booking a fault because it's the easiest thing to do so the service a tech has the problem of explaining to an angry customer face to face that there is nothing they can do because again it's an account issue, i'm sure i could go on.

Cheeky:monkey:,

It's easy for people that hide behind their phones, try dealing with customers face to faceoops:. As Sollp said "Having no cabinet details, Telco faults with no routing details, Telco fault when it's a DTV fault so you can't use lap top to replace faulty STB, booking a fault when it's an account issue, booking a fault because it's the easiest thing to do so the service a tech has the problem of explaining to an angry customer face to face that there is nothing they can do because again it's an account issue, i'm sure i could go on."

It also gripes me when you get sent to a modem fault that clearly isn't. Modem is working fine, then when you get into it it's the customers pc is riddled with Viruses (Not sure of plural there:dunce:), so it was an unnecessary truck roll.

In any case though, it was fun rattling cages for a change:PP:

From Wikipedia:

Quote:

In the English language, the standard plural of virus is viruses. This is the most frequently occurring form of the plural, and refers to both a biological virus and a computer virus.

The less frequent variations viri and virii are virtually unknown in edited prose, and no major dictionary recognizes them as alternative forms. Their occurrence can be variously attributed to hypercorrection formed by analogy to Latin plurals such as radii; idiosyncratic use as jargon among a group, such as computer hackers; and deliberate word play, such as on BBSs (see, e.g.: leet)

ex despatch which included installs despatch, faults/networks despatch, telco provisioning, fault diagnostics, quota management, sorting out everyones mistakes, shouting at customer services, shouting at FMC, shouting at FMC some more and explaining for the 10th time that a cracked omni box lid will not cause someone to have an electric shock because water will get in, and it doesn't actuallly warrant calling the on call network tech at 9 at night to fix. We named ourselves the dustbin of NTL. Ah, the gool ole days. Then 2 years ago they decided to make us all redundant, split the department and send the chunks to various far flung corners of the uk, and believe they are still being moved around on a regular basis.

Nah, that was my ex dept Network Surveillance!;)

We would get customers blind transferred through to us every day from CMC & Faults!!

"Dunno what to do with this customer bill query, I know I'll blind transfer him/her to Network Surveillance"

Apart from being very poor customer service, we couldn't help if we wanted to, we didn't have access to those parts of ICMS/Harmony/SMS:Yikes:

The most common one was from Faults "Hello this customers postcode was affected by an Outage on the Pop Up that was closed yesterday...is it still ongoing...?" :disturbd:

I hope you don't mean in Tech Support, LOL , I did a year for Freeserve on their tech support and i'd rather have customers telling me how rubbish our service is all day (even since we've started handling NTL calls as well,) than have to deal with the stupidiy of some of the people I use to have to deal with at Freeserve.

Kick Avonline off as well!
Don't use Eastern Euro's etc that cant count! Using and/or disconnecting existing telco subs etc
Using pickaxes to open nodes and Muxes, give them keys its cheaper in the long run!!
Give installs longer in he first instance so job done correctly first time around, instead of the doing 9 jobs a day!!

The list is endless and rather boring. Its been the same for years but the powers that be would prefer to spunk 32 mill on trackers rather than sort out existing issues

Re: Staff

They just cant admit they were wrong to get rid of inhouse installs yes the contractor may be cheaper .But some have a high turnover of staff and the quality is c**p in some cases .:td:
