Re: Telewest prices
As are as I am aware the pricing is as follows:
£17.99* for 2MB £25* for 4MB £35* for 10MB *All have a three month half price offer if you are a NEW customer :) Taken from: http://www.telewest.co.uk/websales/service.do?id=2 |
Re: Telewest prices
Hi
Dont think they have actually announced either officially yet ... but with them trialing 20mb the probability is speed bumps sometime end of this year or next year to compete with SKY BB speeds .. i expect as Sky are doing a clean up job at mo with so many new broadband customers ntl:Telewest are gonna have to do something to stay competative so they may up speeds and drop prices especially on the package deals of tv phone & net we will have to wait and see i think unless someone knows better but then its still rumour until confirmed Cozzy |

Re: Telewest prices
See that the telewest broadband offers at the moment are until 31/01/07. So that is around the time we might hear of any new pricing.

Re: Telewest prices
yes i thought of that

Re: Telewest prices
Telewest/NTL are trialling 20Mb at the moment so we should most likely expect another upgrade soon, it'll probably be something like
2Mb -> 6Mb 4Mb -> 12Mb 10Mb -> 20Mb Nothing is official yet but expect it to be something similar. Other than that, what Bob said. |
Re: Telewest prices
wonder if the upload speed will go up,would be nice

Re: Telewest prices
It is a long way since the days of dial up lol How could we forget the whirring and buzzing of the modem connecting (or not as the case may be) :D

I still have 3 dial-up modems sat in a drawer, none of my pc's have space wasted with them any more mind. |
Re: Telewest prices
50Mb trials?
And yes Xan, the lucky people included on the 20Mb trial have reported the upstream speed has been set at 768Kbps. No idea if this will increase any more before the product is fully launched, although I hope it does. 1Mbit upload or more would be nice, and it would compete better with ADSL2+ since that can offer upstream as fast as 1.3Mbps. |

can i ask a question janipewter u say with the 20Mb BB speed the upstream is set to 768kbps, y is this so low when the BB speed is 20Mb |

Re: Telewest prices
Blueyonder has always had a low upload compared to the download

If Telewest don't want to give their customers that little bit extra just for our benefit, that's up to them. It only makes them less popular, and loses customers to services like ADSL2+ where they are available. |
Re: Telewest prices
just askin, im at college and we were doing about accessing the net using isdn etc,
|
Re: Telewest prices
Don't you just love how out of date college IT courses are? The only reason for anyone to use ISDN anymore is if they are too far away from the exchange to get ASDL, but I'm guessing you're being taught that it is a "fast internet connection" (its not, its slow and expensive compared to ADSL or Cable)
|
Re: Telewest prices
Each ISDN line can carry data at 64Kbps. Not sure about the pricing any more, but when we had an ISDN line at home it cost £99 to install. I highly doubt your school would go paying for hundreds of them (yes, that is how much bandwidth schools need nowadays) when they could easily get an Internet service from RM or something.
I'm not sure about your area, but most of the schools in this city with IFL Internet (RM's Internet product) now have it provided over Telewest's network rather than BT's and it's delivered by direct optical fibre, at speeds around 10 Megabits per second (up and down). My college has Internet piped to it by optical fibre from the University of Plymouth, the total bandwidth we get is about 300Mbps (we also have a redundant microwave link to the UoP, just in case the cable breaks or fails). |

Re: Telewest prices
I have already asked customer services, and there are no planned upgrades or prices going down in the near future. If this does change then it won't be until the New Year.
This could tie in with the company name change on 14-Feb-2007. |
Re: Telewest prices
yes any changes will be in the new year like im sure i said it will coincide with the name change
|
Re: Telewest prices
By near future I meant the next 12 months.

Re: Telewest prices
You know how Telewest are with "coming soon" products. Remember when they first announced 10Mbit, it took them almost a YEAR to roll it out over the whole country.
