Which Email Client ?
Guys n Dolls,
What Email client do you use ? I wanna use thunderbird so that I can use RSS and not have to log onto this dumpsh*te all the time ;). However it crashed my laptop... Gonna try it on this pc to see if I get anymore joy. Alternative suggestions welcome. As per usual it needs to handle BIG IMAP mailboxes.. Please dont laff mines 1.5Gig : root mailhost:/home/xxxx/Maildir> du -ks . 1576720 . |
Re: Which Email Client ?
I use Thunderbird.
One of the best programs I have used together with Firefox. |
Re: Which Email Client ?
Thunderbird here too :)
|
Re: Which Email Client ?
I use Thunderbird as well as Firefox. Been using them for some years now. Have to say they are great. I have Outlook and Outlook Express on my machine but have always prefered Thunderbird.:)

Re: Which Email Client ?
If its RSS feeds you're after then why not use firefox for your RSS feeds. Thats what I do :)

Re: Which Email Client ?
Slowly converting :
Thus far so good we'll see how it pans out.... It's having difficulty with my mailboxes but once it's downloaded all the the headers it seems to whip along. There is a little lag switching between folders but its not too bad think its very similiar to teh lag I got with Outlook Express One thing thats already pee'd be off is that you can't drag n drop rss feeds sraight into thunderbird maybe theres a plugin/extension to do this ? ---------- Post added at 13:58 ---------- Previous post was at 13:56 ---------- Quote:

Re: Which Email Client ?
Opera
Built in rss reader (with alerts when you get new feeds) Built in Newsreader Built in email client.......... But I personally use Pegasus email, much safer than most email clients around. :D |
Re: Which Email Client ?
I hate pop mail and dont use it
I have no need for rss and if I did recieving this isnt a problem and I use newsbin for my newsreader. So email for me is simply hotmail |

Built in rss, nntp, smtp with opera ? Sounds overkill and with thunderbird already struggling with my mail alone what chance is opera gonna have ? Anyway I'll see how this pans out with my usage of thunderbird over the next few days |

Hey since it looks like I'm a mozilla convert I found some very neat plugins for firefox and thunderbird... ---- linky --- http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/download.php Best of all I found this exporter which exported everthing including extensions :) to my lappy.... Now that was cool I even had time spent over to write this. ---------- Post added at 17:03 ---------- Previous post was at 16:58 ---------- Quote:

[Edit] And it's already updated to KDE 3.5.5.... (I know Kanotix is too... ;) ) [Edit] You can share your Thunderbird (& FF) profile if you dual boot... |
Re: Which Email Client ?
M$ Outlook.
Calendar and contacts sync with my nokia N80 over bluetooth connection. Also I guess a lot of PDA peeps use outlook for the same reason? |
Re: Which Email Client ?
I access my gmail and ntl accounts with outlook 2003.
|
Re: Which Email Client ?
i've been using mail2web for the past few month since I got a PDA. (free push mail) sync's easy too.

Handles huges mailboxes easily. Disadvantages are that being text based, doesn't really support HTML email. |
Re: Which Email Client ?
Thankyou all for your interesting comments and links :
Really sorry Stuart for the link to BackTrack (it's more of a network security tool more than hacking ; - wont happen again). Real hackers - hacking real systems dont post their exploits nor are there any websites. Overall I must say I am a thunderbird convert and its handling things just fine for me. Yes wrt the migration to a linux desktop I might try it one day when I have the time and as others have said pda syncing / mobile syncing is really the reason why I also am still with micro$haft but yet again the linux office / syncing suites have vastly improved over the past 5 years.
