Don't you just want one (laser)

Pottering around I found this site. linky

I already have a Class II <1mW red laser pointer that I use to wind the cat up and mess about with in the dark. But 450+ x the power and green well thats just got to be better anything else. The lower power ones (75mW) will pop ballons and cut plastic :disturbd:

Now if I just sell the car I can have one. (plus I'd need to convince claire)

Check out the vids :D 75mW laser popping a balloon

Warning, This site contains expensive gadgets. In the interests of marital harmony please consult your partner before spending $3000 on toys

Perhaps some of our planning officers could use one like that to stop the waffle from some councillors.

I dont terrorize my cat with it, she loves chasing it. Every bit as much fun as a pingpong ball exept you dont have to keep getting up to get it out for the cat when it gets stuck somewhere.

And I dont think you'll have much bother with yobs, these are dear bits of kit.

LOL Personally I see no other use for it then to be a hooligan no need for one in office presentations about the only use would be on something as huge as a office block to draw attention to something, and remove the bartering trying to make someone see what your seeing.

Be careful with these. Even normal laser pointers can be dangerous. At work they are now banned, after one lecturer was temporarily blinded when a student shone one in his eyes.

I thought these things were banned, due to peeps being blinded by them when they first appeared on the retail market?

This mean machine would certaintly blind you, so why on the market?

I'm slightly concerned myself but the cheapest one is at about £530 on this site.I'm not sure as to what 'strength' it is though but surely as was mentioned earlier the cost should keep them out of the hands of hooligans.

The ray uses a beam which heats up the skin to a depth of 1/64 of an inch. This burning sensation is very painful but won't cause actual damage unless the subject stays in the beam for as long as 250 seconds.
:erm: Suppose it is only 4 minutes though...plenty of time to get out of the way :)

Re: Don't you just want one (laser)

Greetings Cable Forum,
We have had many inquiries from Cable Forum members. I have reviewed this thread and want to make some clarifications. Our laser prices start at 50 quid, for a 15mW and range up to 125mW at 330 quid. The 15mW is enough to produce a bright intense green beam during night time conditions. It is 3 X brighter than the 5mW lasers you see on the market for the same price. To thank you for your interest, I am giving a 20% discount for all Cable Forum members on their purchase effective now through the end of August. To redeem your discount, order your product via the ORDER NOW link on the top of the home page. Then use the shopping cart (ADD TO CART) when choosing your product, then before you checkout, you will see the Promo Code area. Use "CABLEFORUM" to get 20% off your entire order. Thanks for supporting our site and hope to see you soon. These lasers are legal to ship to the UK, USA and any other country, but you must use it privately and for professional purposes (not to play around with).

Best Regards

Hang on!You and I can see sensible uses for this item but I suspect that the desire by many CF members to own one has nothing to do with them being useful..It's just one more exc... errrr..reason to offer to be allowed to buy one by their nearest and dearest. ;)

As with everything: use it carefully and sensibly and it's fun. Use it stupidly and someone may get damaged.

Wise words indeed... Says he who once set fire to the jumper he was wearing while standing near to a naked flame. Didn't realise until that point that fleece is flamable..

I have a laser pointer which I use for presentations. I have noticed the newer (more powerful) ones are brighter, and I would like one for that reason.

But, any laser pointer can blind a person...

Need I say more? Laser pointers are very handy for attracting the audience's attention to the relevant part of whatever is on the screen. I've noticed the new generation is brighter. I may want one...
