Can I upload to 123reg with dreamweaver?

Hi
I need a host! Ive finished working on my website and have bought the domain www.pop80.co.uk Ive designed and done the website in dream weaver, however Ive told by an IT guy at work that I can not upload this and will have to re-write it all in HTML?!
Is this correct?
Also will the basic hosting package do from 123reg, ive got my domain with them. I know nothing about uploading and like others it scares me!!!

Thanks guys I really need your help this time, else my website is stuck on my PC! :dozey:

That IT guy is an ignoramus (you tell him Bifta said so), you can upload it using FTP if 123-reg offer FTP access, which I'm sure they do and if you have FTP access, you can also upload it using Dreamweaver. Perhaps he's confused as to what Dreamweaver is, because he clearly has no idea that it's an HTML editor.

Amazing the sort of people who land IT jobs nowadays.

Not looked at the 123-Reg hosting packages but try www.i-websolutions.co.uk, many members on this site use them (In fact this site) and have domains with 123-Reg (you just need to change the nameservers)

I'd also recommend heartinternet.co.uk, started by the people who founded web fusion, servers are also based in the UK.

Bwahahaha, that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. I hope this 'IT guy' is not in charge of anything important at your work... otherwise I bet you have loadsa problems :D

Seriously, this guy is obviously stoopid, which begs the question how he got the job. There was an interesting discussion in Computing recently about there not being any real standardised certification that IT people can take, as opposed to a mechanical engineer, doctor, lawyer, etc... This guy sounds like a prime example of this.

at least post the link with the deal for forum members ;)

http://i-websolutions.co.uk/cfhosting.php ;) :D

I have a 123-Reg account, with the domain hosted by I-Web, there was no problem changing the setting for the nameservers :)

Nah, I'd disagree. Just cause 2 people each have a degree in CS doesn't mean that they've got comparable skills. Degree course contents change from one university to another, and there's no standard set in stone that dictates what should be covered as a minimum. With other subjects, you do have this yardstick that can be used. You know that chemistry or law or engineering students from different universities will have, at least, studied the same topics to a certain level. You simply don't get this consistency with the IT industry.
