Just been down the quacks

Sorry for the humourus title people, but i needed to cheer myself up. Anyway onto my problem, i went down the doctors this morning for the nurse to look at my foot. Everytime i walk on it it is dreadfully painful, so i thought to myself i have bruised it.

Anyway as it is painful im having to limp and walk on my to. I know this isnt a good idea and i know what you lot are thinking. Anyway the nurse said it was to do with my tendon, so im thinking but thats not where the ****ing pain is, although i didnt actually use those words. ;) .

So she gave me these exercises to do on a daily basis but i cant see them helping as the pain is actually in my foot and not in my tendon. I personally think i have bruised it myself and my mums going to bring a bandage home with her so maybe that will help.

Where is it in your foot? The sole-back/middle/front? Achilles?

for bruises you could try "Arnica gel". However I have heard of displaced pain ie. a headache with pain at the front can be caused by tension in the neck.

You should always try to see a doctor if you are not happy with the diagnoses the nurse gave you.

The pain is on top. When she mentioned the tendon, i think she meant the one to the back of my leg.

Am I permitted to hijack this thread? If so.....

I'm off to see the quack on monday, I have a bit of an embarrassing problem which I'm sure you'll all take great amusement in hearing about.

If not........I'll bear it in mind when we chose the new team member ;) :D

Would it involve the need for a mini innertube per chance?

Ouch, that sounds like what my feet do sometimes, maybe if I run a short distance, or if I've been running for a while.

Thought it was perfectly normal, apart from a few niggles playing footy I don't recall having injured them... and when it's hurt for a bit, about a minute or two, it just clears off again. :(

It may be an issue with where the tendon is attached to the bone, that would account for the pain being in a different place, I had that a while ago.

When you say "on top" do you mean on top of the picture that Rammy posted or "on top" of your foot?

You can get referred pain that may lead you to think that the primary cause is in a place where it isn't.

Difficult to assess over a forum isn't it Rammy. My first thought on reading the post was Plantar Faciitis but it with out a more detailed examiniation it could be metatarsalgia or Achilles bursitis.....etc etc.

Wayne.
Is it worse in the morning?
When you say walking on your toes do you mean tip toes or deviating your foot on it's side/towards the little toe?
Can you clarify if the pain is worse on the top of your foot or the bottom ie sole versus the other side?
Does prodding the area with your finger reproduce it?

I walk on tip toes.

Pain is worse on top of foot.

Prodding the area where the pain is does reproduce it. It s worse in the morning.

and how long have you had it and how did it start?

Re: Just been down the quacks

Unfortunately, in this case (given the location of the pain) without being able to examine your foot it's going to have to be filed under 'continuing mystery'. You may have hit it on something, you may have irritated it with footwear, you may even have misaligned a joint in your foot--which can give pain and an inability to walk properly. Without examining it we will never know. Sorry m8

obviously only speculation ;)

- but well summed up :tu:

please make sure any 'baby wipes' are flushable - dispose of otherwise, if not - they can block pipes - but chilling the area is  - don't apply ice directly to the skin unless you really want to, though ;)

Ok to recap on my foot so far, my mum bought a support bandage home from work which has help an awful lot. My dad bought home these kind of wiprs which feel like they burn your foot after about half an hour so that has taken the pain down an awful lot, so hopefully i will find it easier to climb the stairs tonight.
