DVD Ram discs

After spending $s on 16 DVD R Discs for my camcorder (no jokes or rips please :dozey: ) I have now found out it takes DVD RAM discs. :(

They must be single sided as recommended 8 cm discs.

I cannot find any at all on the net. I see loads of double sided, but not single.

Can anyone help with a link as to where to get some?

TIA

Re: DVD Ram discs

single sided or single layer?

the data layer is in the centre of a dvd, so a single sided is the same thickness as a double sided, i see no reason why they shouldn't work...?

(unless the manual specifically says they won't, guess)

PS
ALL DVD-RAM disks are single layer.

AFAIK all double-sided DVD-RAM disks come in a cartridge so all bare disks are single sided.

Manual says won't work. I guess I can try just a little reluctant after spending money on wrong discs all ready.

Why dont the do single sided anyway? The manual recommends maxwell. I cannot find them.........

Are these 8cm? http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=s...o.x=50&Go.y=15

Re: DVD Ram discs

Unlikely - it says 4.7Gb on the pack. Normal 12cm ones are 4.7Gb per side whilst the 8cm ones are 1.4Gb.

Why not Froogle on '8cm DVD-RAM' plus the model number of your camera?

I can't provide a working link to the product, but go to that site and enter MADVD2082 in the search.

I'm not surprised no one knows the answer - Hitachi seem to release the minimum of info.

Was there not a DVD-RAM cartridge in the box?

Is the DVD-R disk you use in a caddy?

Is the caddy round or square?

And you do know, don't you, that Maxell is a brand name belonging to Hitachi - no wonder they recommend it!

serves you right for buying a dvd-cam. ;)

It'll be a joy to edit the video too. Can't beat editing mpeg2. :)
