Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

I've heard nothing but praise about this PSU, it's supposed to be the best on the market but I'm having trouble finding a supplier.

er, what about that site you linked to? They have a 25%/$35 surcharge for shipping to Yurop, but they will do it.

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

I never saw that, might get hit by import tax though.
Here's a review, it looks impressive:

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

Yeah, didn't think about the import tax you'd have to most likely pay too. Good point.

I don't suppose you happen to know somebody that is gonna be visiting the USA soon? Maybe they could smuggle it in to the country for you... although I wouldn't recommend putting it inside a condom and trying to swallow it, cause that would be a bit extreme.

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

I personally wouldn't bother, a 600W OCZ Powerstream (available pretty much everywhere) would be just as good, "SLI ready" what a load of marketing balls.

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

I take it you didn't read the review then, the stabilty of those rails is superb.
Of course, if anyone thinks that I could make do with my current Antec Trupower 550 with a 20 pin > 24 pin adaptor then I'd be happy to hear about it.

Yes I did read the review  The OCZ not only has rails just as stable but each rail is individually adjustable, review here:

http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/ocz600w/

Quote:

This is probably the highest quality PSU ive ever tested and the power output is seemingly endless - it can handle peaks of 700w+ which will sate even the most demanding of enthusiasts. Testing the Driverheaven watercooled P4 extreme edition and FX55 test rigs overclocked to the hilt with an X800Xt and 6800 ultra and loaded down with four gigabytes of high performing ram, five or six hard drives in raid 0 this power supply just walked through the test results barely shifting from reference rail figures.

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

I never would have considered them because I thought OCZ had a rep for "cheap" RAM.

HAHAHAHA .. OCZ have a rep for the most expensive overclockable ram, what planet are you on?

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

The stability on the rails for my Tagan 480W isn't bad, but probably not powerful enough for your needs.

Earth and people make mistakes, I also heard rumors about OCZ each company has its bad products.

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

Cheers, but I've pretty much made my mind up about the OCZ 600W because it's got more power and seems to be just as stable.
Bit cheaper too.

*grumble* overclockers, let's hope they actually package your stuff up properly, they just threw my ram into a jiffy bag along with other stuff I'd ordered, no anti-static bag nothing AND the order was 3 day's late even though I paid for RM Special, it's a shame that a company with that range of items at decent prices let's itself down with such utterly crap customer service. You still can't get them on the phone, they claim to reply to enotes within 4 hours but the only reply you'll get is an automated response that they've received it ... almost as bad as Ebuyer.

Richard M 28-06-2005 22:04

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

I've never had an issue with them TBH, and whenever I phone them they have always answered within 30 secs.

Aah great...

There has been a problem with your payment for order REMOVED (Internet ref REMOVED). Due to the size of the order and it being your first order with us using this card we will have to ask the order is shipped to an address registered with the card issuer

If you are unable to have goods delivered to your home address you may be able to register the delivery address with your card issuer, you would have to phone your bank / credit card company to discuss this.

Have forwarded the emails to my work address so will sort it out in the morning.

Sorry mate, unless you're ringing the sales line that's complete rubbish.

Richard M 29-06-2005 09:56

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

Hmm, see what you mean now, even the sales line is ringing out. :(
Why the hell don't they use an IVR/call queuing system?
Last time I ordered was about a year ago so they must have gone a bit downhill.

Trouble with using an IVR system is that people end up paying to queue, so in their infinite wisdom they now let you ring until it rings off, I spent literally 2 hours ringing them to complain about the late delivery and lack of packaging and finally just gave up and they've yet to reply to the e-note from last thursday.

Richard M 29-06-2005 11:54

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

Just got through to them, he said that the order would be delivered tomorrow to my home address so I'll have to let it go undelivered then pick it up from the Amtrack depot on Friday.
Regarding their IVR, and I quote, "it kind of broke but we are getting another one".

THE best place I've ever ordered computer bits from is Gladiator Computers (gladiatorcomputers.com), unbelievable customer service, get through on the phone at any time of day, orders are never despatched late and they're always packed really well. Some of their stuff is a bit more expensive and the range isn't as good as OCUK but if you find anything on there you need, they're well worth using.

Cool, I'll have a look.

Richard M 29-06-2005 16:47

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

All sorted now, being the sneaky git I am I phoned my local Amtrak depot and arranged for the parcel to be kept in the warehouse instead of them delivering it, then I can collect it after work. (just got shipping number by email see)
As a result I get the goods a day early. :smokin:

My bank essentially told me to f*** off, they said that they'd have to change my main bank address to the work address.
It's either work address or home, and they refused to change my address to my work for even a few days so I was screwed.
At least I've made my first order with them now though so I shouldn't have any more problems, although I seriously doubt if I'll be ordering from them again.

Shame really because their prices are excellent - the card I bought cost in excess of £350 without VAT in all the other places I tried.

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

Maybe a mild overclock, but as you know - stability is more important ATM. :)

Anyhow, just picked up my package from the warehouse and the order is all correct.
Quite frankly I'm amazed it was actually "next-day" delivery for once. :D

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

Wow, wow, wow. :D
I've have never in my life seen such quality parts.
The PSU is awesome build quality, it's got a shiny chrome finish and every single cable is the extra heavy-duty, braided type. When you turn it on the fan glows a pleasant green and I like the 3 LEDs (green ATM) on the back to let you know how the voltages are.
The Logitech combo again is superb, I've used the laser mouse before and I expect you've heard all about it but it's so smooth when moving - much more so than using the MX700 I had previously.
Also the keyboard just feels "luxury". :)

I did have a slight problem and that was while installing the graphics card - it literally wouldn't fit all the way into the slot and after 20 mins of cursing I realised that there were slots in the side of the motherboard tray specially for the end of the backplates.
The backplate of the card was ever so slightly bent so I straightened the two ends up and slotted it in.

I'll be doing some benchmarks shortly, just downloading 3DMark 2003 ATM.

AndrewJ 30-06-2005 20:53

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

Sweet, I have a low profile ATX tower with a micro atx motherboard, do you think the same PSU would fit into it, as I would like a more quality one in it.

Richard M 30-06-2005 21:04

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

No idea TBH.
If a standard ATX PSU fits then I'd say yes but don't take my word for it.

Richard M 30-06-2005 21:47

Re: Anyone know where I can buy this PSU?

3DMark scores coming with links shortly...

I got 12994 on my second run of 2003, which was a bit lower than my first (13300+), I expect this is because the VPU was already running hot and I closed the result window by mistake on the first so had to run it again! :(
