Is it available in Derry, or is Digital TV available because we have not head anything here???

Re: VOD arrives in Belfast...

Im in Newtownabbey and nothing here on any of our three boxes!!!!

Perhaps 1701-e is receiving such a fast and efficient service because he is the only one that has received it so far!!?? ;)

Whereabouts in Belfast are you 1701-e?? And what type of STB do you have?

James

Re: VOD arrives in Belfast...

Everyone should have it.It's on Channel '0',pull out the power lead, wait 10-20 seconds & plug in.The box will re-boot & that should fix it.It came on last night & every call i've made today has it.
If you turn the box off at the wall socket at night, you might have missed the latest software update.

Re: VOD arrives in Belfast...

I have had a play around with the box and happened to find the VOD stuff by going inyo GUIDE and selecting ON DEMAND. I can now watch all the Doctor Who episodes right back into early May!!! :Yikes:

I take everything back guys - this is fantastic!! :D

By the way, is going to "0" a faster way of accessing the VOD??

The reason I thought I hadn't received the update was because I was expecting one of those "pop-up" messages congratulating me because I can now access Video when I wish!!

Re: VOD arrives in Belfast...

You got the software a few weeks ago.
You can also use Ch 106 or 107!

Yes I missed the 'Blitz' Doctor Who eppys so I'll enjoy those.

Query: programmes are indicated as "w/s" but they are full-screen.
Not a great bother but anyone else get widescreen?

If we got the software update a few weeks ago, does this mean that we had VOD since then??

No. The way it works is that the software is sent out first, then the VOD servers are turned on a couple of weeks later.

I never understood that because Derry was 'dug up' AFTER Belfast yet they only ran with ANALogue!

Basically, the Hubsites need updating to accomidate Digital platforms & NTL at the moment does'nt have the money.Derry has only had B.B for a few months (about a year,i think).
Sure,a lot of Bangor & Newtownards is cabled & has been for about 3 years, but there are no plans to release it to sale as yet!

Derry has had BB for a lot longer than that. It had it from late 2002 onwards if memory serves me correctly (apart from 1 or 2 very small pockets)

Asked a network tech today about Derry going digital. There is a plan to run a Digital Feed up to Derry, but no date as yet.I suppose it'd have to come from the headend here in Belfast (off the Falls Rd)
I'll keep you informed if i hear anything else.

Re: VOD arrives in Belfast...

One reason Derry wouldn't have gone digital is that until about ten months ago there was no way of getting DTV through a DOCSIS STB in Langley areas - since then we can reuse the existing UBR in Derry for DTV (VOD/interactive) which removes one of the major costs. Installing the cables, fibres and TV kit is still a major task, however.
