...do you have open? i've currently got 12, but when i'm doing some kinds of work i can easily be looking at 20.

is this normal?

some ppl tell me it's a bit weird... :erm:

I've got one open, but that's in the bathroom and I have my reasons.....

Umm, Sometimes I can have 5 or 6 open at once. If I have more than that open at once then I'm not really concentrating on what I'm doing.

I'm intending to get a second (TFT) monitor to hook up to my laptop so that I can have an extended desktop. I find it more useful to be able to see 2 or 3 windows at once than to have them open but in the background (particularly when I'm programming or working on databases).

i don't mean all resized into teeny little bits, that would be crazy, but in the taskbar...

i miss having a second montor (well, 2 pcs side by side) :cry:

virtual desktops don't really make any difference. it's not a big problem having loads of windows open, i'm just wondering if other ppl do the same as me!

I have all my windows open in seperate boxes instead of all in one,was always the same on win 98 and me not likely to change
So I do it the same as you

Depending on what im doing its normally 10-20 but I have been known on mnay occasions to have well over 60-70

usually have a good 20 items in the systray aswell

firefox means that i am normally around 5-10 with between 5 and 10 tabs on firefox depending on what i am doing.

At work i normally have about 20

When I'm developing at home I have about 10, with 10 Firefox tabs and at work it can be 3 times that, but there I have dual TFTs. :)

I've only got a couple open, but there's three tabs open in Netscape which probably would count.

At home, probably (at most) four or five. At work it can be dozens if I'm doing several things at once, but the minimum is three.

I think it's meaningful, but I'm not certain how. Box of pens. You keep losing a pen - do you try hard to find the lost pen, or do you get another pen from the box? Same with windows - do you use the IE you have on the taskbar, or do you just open another window? Two types of person.

You use pens on your windows .... doesn't the screen get a bit messy .... and it must be a bugger to print ... :D

i generally have 2 windows open for firefox... one with tabs for all the pages i've got open that are work related, one for non-work stuff.

How many windows do I have open? Depends on what I am doing, but usually less than 10.

There is a certain program I use at work that works on every lab machine simultaneously (using dos command boxes) and that can optionally open a window for each machine, so theoretically, I could have up to 300 open at one time. Windows (NT, 2000 and XP) copes surprisingly well opening 300 command lines.
