Nero and changing drives

Does anyone know if there is a way to get Nero to work with a new drive.
I got it bundled with a CDRW but have now switched it for a DVDRW and Nero says it will only work with the original drive it came with.

Thanks.

Was it an OEM version, or a boxed retail version, that was shipped with your drive?

Buy another copy http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=63324

£2.78including shipping and ebuyer doesn't usually insist you buy any hardware with it. Read the customer reviews which tell you how to get the missing features if you need them.

Re: Nero and changing drives

The nero software bundled with most drives is OEM and restricted to use with the bundled drive only.

You can buy unrestricted versions of nero www.nero.com

Ah well, Success !!!
I know its not right and I should buy a new one, but for this moment of madness I found it on my sisters laptop and it wasnt drive specific so it installed.
Having just seen the price of the newest one, I think I'l definately place an order tonight.

Thanks for all your help.

Won't the demo version of Nero still work?

If you allready have an edition of nero installed the demo will just update your existing version

And will that be drive locked still? must be worth a try.

Or perhaps write down your registration number, uninstall then reinstall the demo & enter your reg number?

Me, I just use the nero 6 keygen :D

Re: Nero and changing drives

Registration number was only working for that particular make of drive as it was shipped with the OEM CDRW drive I bought back then.

What I ended up doing was getting another version 5.5 that I remember getting for a laptop and it was the full one, not an OEM version so it installed and recognised the new drives.

At around £2 though, I'l definately upgrade to the latest version.
