U/S isen't working
Does anyone know why my D/S is working perfect but my upstream isent working whatsoever?
Also how to fix. TY in advance. |
Re: U/S isen't working
can you surf???
Are the sync and rdy light on???? |
Re: U/S isen't working
um, can you clarify? downstream needs request and acknowldge packets, you can't have one wthout the other!
If you meant windows doesnt report any upstream packets, this isn't a problem. also, :welcome: to the site |
Re: U/S isen't working
hi thanks.
All LED's are on except U/S and why would windows not report and packets going up? I'm looking now and it says D/L 608,509 and U/S 0.0. |
Re: U/S isen't working
can you surf
|
Re: U/S isen't working

Just a quick question - what is the upload speed of the 3mbit line???? |

Re: U/S isen't working
Ok and do u know what the u/s is for the 3mbit line?
|

300kbit i think. EDIT: yup, 300kbit it is... |
Re: U/S isen't working
300kbit UPLOAD speed????
|
Re: U/S isen't working
yeah. you'll probably max out download at about 360KB/s, upload about 35KB/s, all being well (remember everything is specced in bits! :))
|
Re: U/S isen't working
d3v please tell us can you surf
|
Re: U/S isen't working
hi thanks for info.... damm bytes and bits lol... and i though there were 1024 bits per byte so wouldent that make it 37.02KB/s rather than 30KB/s or have I just lost the plot?

Re: U/S isen't working
you COULD just tell us if you can surf properly with your connection, if you can then all is well!
|
Re: U/S isen't working
8 bits in a byte. unless you're into really old comms stuff, in which case it could be as low as 5...but that's just silly.
D/L: 3mbips = 3072kbips = 384 KB/s U/L 300kbips = 37.5KB/s when i said 35KB/s i was just rounding down a bit, you probably wont get quite as high as the full speed anyway. not noticably different though! hope this helps :) |

Re: U/S isen't working
ty for the info on bits n' bytes but i still havent grasped t yet :(
i thought u were being sarcastic when u asked if i could surf becuase if i couldent, i wouldent be here but now i know you were asking if i could surf properly.... yes i can surf perfectly fine and download perfectly fine too. Hey guys I am hoping any of you can work this thing out for me... i'm totally stuck onit. Quote:
my U/S is 300kbit a second..... could one of you work out what i should set my clientrate to please.... wayy to complicated for my limited understanding :( |
Re: U/S isen't working
heh, it confused me first time i saw t too. but everything worked, so i didn't question it... if anyone has an explanaton as to why this happens i'd be (mildly) interested though!
|
Re: U/S isen't working
bandit have a go at that thing i quoted please.
|
Re: U/S isen't working
from that, i guess 5000 would be a decent setting. im not sure if it means 6 players on your nternal network, or 6 players total. kinda depends if theres a central server i guess, i've never player UT online so i don't really know.
|
Re: U/S isen't working
oh sory i forgot... i play with 3 players on the server.
|
Re: U/S isen't working
try 10000 then, see if pings are acceptable...

Re: U/S isen't working
its what the thing you quoted recommends for a 256k D/S. you've got 300k, so you could possibly crank it up a little higher, but i would imagine 10000 would be a good value to start with. try it and see! :)
|
Re: U/S isen't working
ok i am gonna try it now, thanks.
EDIT: I've just tried it and its loads better for the clients.... i'm getting 4 quality stars for my server and before I only used to be able to get 2 ;) Thanks alot:tu: |
Re: U/S isen't working
Just checking that you could browse on that connection because you COULD be using dialup. Dont like to assume stuff like that :)
