Argh! TV-Out troubles

Ok, here's the deal. I just bought a Belkin TV-OUT Scart adapter, which is a Scart block with S-Video and audio connections on it. I have an old nVidia Geforce 4 MX 420, and I want to be able to watch what I'm doing on the TV. I've tried alot of things, like updating my graphics card, trying the software and I've also tried restarting and stuff but it just won't show on my TV. I'm running Windows XP Home btw.

Any help?

hi and :welcome: to the site , if you have the latest driver then you should be able to see nview in control panel , then if you right click on an item then you should be able send it to tv if it is setup right , sorry it is a bit vague and hopefully someone else will be along to tidy it up for me :erm: :D :D :D

:welcome:

As paul said if you have not downloaded new driver and just installed the windows generic driver twin view will not be enabled

download newest driver and install ,once installed reboot, nview will then give you the option you follow wizard
If this does not help, Right click on desktop click properties then advanced
click on geforce tab a box will open on the side There should be a displays option(or something similar) I would select clone as the tv will then be the same as monitor

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

have you tried direct connection to your tv to see if its the block? If it isn't uninstall drivers you have and delete nvidia folder follow this link and try an older driver,I would go back quite a way just to see

I'm pretty sure it isn't the scart block. Coming from a professional brand like Belkin I'm sure it is 100% working, and I'm just doing something wrong

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

humour me :D try it direct to tv :D

What type of lead are you using? Is it svideo or composite?? Is there an adapter on gfx card? if so ensure its well inserted

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

I guess I could try it directly into the TV, as there is an S-Video connection at the front.

It's S-Video btw, and the S-Video lead connects into the Graphics card and into the scart block, which then goes into the TV.

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

Is the card set to svideo out and not composite?(there should be setting for this) sometimes it defaults to auto and ive known that to get it wrong

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

Ok, it works when I plugged it in the front of the TV. Doesn't seem to want to be scarted o.O

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

Haha. Well, I got one annoyance. The text isnt very clear, well I know it wouldn't be pixel perfect, and videos don't seem to want to play on the telly, although they work fine on the comp o.o

And for some reason when I use the TV as a dual monitor set up, the video plays fine, but not in clone mode o.o

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

have a look for overlay settings these shoudl sort out the video

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

I think it's something to do with Windows Media Player and not the TV-Out. Cause Winamp plays Video's just fine through it, albeit with a few colours mixed, but it's all good :D

Now, I am gonna try it with the scart connector for... SOUND! :D

Good luck :)

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

Right. It doesn't seem to want to put any audio or picture on the telly when I use the scart adapter. The direct S-Video lead works fine, just no sound :/

Any tips?

zing_deleted 21-04-2005 21:34

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

Can you go direct to the tv? using a 3.5 stereo jack to audio adapter and your svideo lead going into either a scart adapter or phono connection to tv?

Do you own an av amp?? I have my pcs switched through that

Re: Argh! TV-Out troubles

Yay, I fixed it. The problem is was that I had the Scart switch set to OUT, which was sending a signal from the tv, and not IN. Which I changed it to. So silly xD
