The Youth of Today...
Is it me, or are we getting more & more stories now about kids committing absolutely horrible crimes?
This week alone has had... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/s...re/4337153.stm Quote:

Then there was also that kid in Scotland who was convicted (but I think is Appealing) of stabbing his girlfriend to death. Plus, some lesser crimes I remember recently... The new year saw a young boy get convicted for drink driving. He was the UK's youngest ever convicted drink driver.... until a few weeks later, when a young girl was convicted of drink driving. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I dont think I'm an old git, but the kids now are definately different to when I was young. I wouldn't dream of walking down the street swearing and being abusive to people, and to be honest very little of that went on.
I think some things that kids in my day were sent to borstal for, are seen as a common daily occurance now. Crime amongst youngsters has rocketed, and its about time limits on naming and shaming them was lifted, they seem to wallow in the fact that they can be as cheeky or abusive as they want, because an adult cannot touch them! Interestingly, the Wales on Sunday has some interesting statistics about ABSO's again, its alarming how many are broken. Some of these kids are hardened criminals before they even leave school these days. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Has it got worse, or is there more media coverage now???
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
Sadly, I think it's got worse. :(
I have been working in schools for the past 7 years, when I first started the kids were, by and large, quite compliant when you asked them to do things. Nowadays if I ask them to do something (I teach cycling proficiency in schools to 10 - 11 year olds durung the summer) it's not unusual to be told to xyz off (insert your own expletive of choice!) and to be threatened by parents the following day, when little Johnny/Jane has had a chance to go home and bleat to it's parents. It seems that the children of today are everyone elses problem when things go wrong - just blame the schools and teachers, social workers etc - it's so much easier than the parents having to do anything! I bet most of the kids in Matt's first post didn't have much parental input, they need strict boundaries and good role models IMHO. |

I cant remember me or any of my mates breaking into cars, running up the bonnet over the roof and down the boot of cars, breaking the mirrors off cars, running down the street pushing all the dustbins over...etc etc etc. If I did a resident would be waiting to give me a good belt, and there would be an even bigger one for me when I got home. Even the people I went to school with that ended up in prison were never anywhere near as bad as many kids are today. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
There was a recent prog on Radio 4 (all in the mind or something I think) where they talked about how the attitudes of the generations have changed with respect to where to lay blame etc
40 years ago something like only 20% believed that all their problems were due to external influences, the old "society is to blame" scenario, but these days it's something like 80% People don't take responsibility for their actions, like having kids, and it is getting worse. I have met several people who've mentioned how terrible their kids are and ended with "but what can I do? I'm just their mother" |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Yep - they expect to be able to control them when they are 11 or whatever, when they should have started letting the kids know who is boss before they could walk! Although something else I have noticed is how many parents nowadays like to let other people 'babysit' for them - whether that is because they need a break from their badly behaved offspring or if that contributes to the problem I'm not really sure!

Yes, it's never the kid's fault - they are not taught to take responsibility for their actions, if anything happens that the kids don't like, the parents will be there to bully the teacher or person in authority until the kids get their own way. Actually I'm starting the school work again this year in another couple of weeks - wonder if I can get a transfer to something nice and safe, like a Parking Attendant? ;) |
Re: The Youth of Today...
and it will continue until proper punishments are once again allowed, instead of pampering to their "rights".
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
I think it's got worse. Or rather, kids have got worse.
The stuff you read about now.... rarely heard about anything like that back "when I were a lad" (god, I feel old, & I'm only 27). And it's not just things like the above stories (hacking kids to death, raping teachers, etc), more & more kids today just seem to be....right little ****s in general (insert own 4 letter word of choice). And they're "the future" :erm: |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I am more 50-50 here, I think some of this did perhaps happen in the earlier old times, but there is more technology now to inform other people, also familes tend to be more open now.
However this gang culture and I hate to say this but American Gung HO rap culture ganster thing, is going to far. Although it is down to the parents, the peer pressure thing gets far too many teenagers and kids heading the wrong way, although the recent change in the rule of smacking your own child, does not help as they need to be taught right from wrong, and the goverments and PC Brigade are just making it hard to raise children correctly. In Rochdale where I live we have our morons, but I have noticed the council is relaxed over these mini bikes so long as they drive them on some fields local to me, this has helped cut down on a muggings and late night yobs throwing stones at buses etc, as now we have a group of lads even some girls making motorbikes up from scrap yards and so long as they wear a helmet, we have noticed they prefer to have a laugh on some fields. Although you do get your moron it is something they enjoy and is more productive then sitting in front of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and thinking that is the way to be. __________________ Quote:

I don't think though that the problem is specific ethnicity, races, or other ara of society (low income say) as it seems to fairly consistantly getting bad across the board. I am sorry to say this, if you have young children yourself, but when I was a kid, they were bad... I certainly wouldn't like to be a kid in my era again, but nowadays, they are absolutely diabolical. It is getting so bad now I am glad that part of my life is over, but how can you ignore kids as an adult? |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Unfortunatley I blame the goggle box. I mean have you seen some of those kids cartoons, christ they actually incite bullying take the cramp twins. i watched that and I thought no wonder society is screwed up today. If I had the option I would not have TV. It is getting really silly, I had to look after this kid on a kids ward who beat up and then sexually assaulted his mum, all because she said no. I wanted to really give that kid a good battering. Bring back the cane and the rounders bat!!!!!!

Re: The Youth of Today...

Some of the little ******* causing criminal damage around here come from families that could not be described as poor, the worst one in my parents area is the grandson of the community council who heads up the neighbourhood watch! It always used to be the excuse that they came from a low income family, one parent family etc... Anything basically to excuse their actions, these days the problem is so widespread it affects all walks of life. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
You do the crime they should do the time, excuse or not.
They get away with murder nearly these days. The courts are too soft, if the parents wont teach them a lesson then perhaps the courts ought to themselves with tougher penalties. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I have always said, what they have done to the victims it should be done to them and then lets see how much they enjoy it not!!!!! Have you always noticed though when they are on the telly they stick up for what little Johnny has done!!!!! Come on parents stop seeing your kids through rose colored glasses!!!!!! I remeber once we got our car kicked when were travelling through a not very respectable area of norton. The police told us not to press charges or the kid would come to our house and smash all our windows in and the family would join in for fun as well!!!!! this kid was about 12 at the time. So thank you very much Cleveland Police for all your help not!!!!!
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
IMO kids have very limited role models to look up to. There is no parental guidance at home and no-one willing to say no as a means to curtail poor behaviour. Even so-called sports personalities who the kids look up to display a child-like petulence when their own behaviour on the field is brought into question.
I do beleive that behaviour has got worse but that is not just the domain of the kids - adults display far more intolerance, are more impatient when driving and some adopt the 'get out of my way' attitude far too quickly. Is it not any wonder why some kids behave in the way they do? |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Quote:
We need to wisen up and move on, not stoop to there leve. Most parents have out of control children this is regularly known, and as for the police they are under powered to deal with this situation this is a issue which needs to be put to a local MP, and through the goverments. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I cannot belive though that even the police are scarred of kids now, we have those community wardens and they are even scarred of the kids. Kids nowadays have nobody to look up to lets face it!!! My 2 sons even have an attitude at 7&8. So what chance have I got when they are teenagers

Re: The Youth of Today...
None this is where we need a punishment which works, but yet means we do not stoop to there level, I kinda like the brat camp one, we have seen on televison a few times, where they pack them up, ship them out into Army camps and make them wisen up, sure you got your morons who storm out and cant be changed. But for the majority who was only a moron because there big mate Steve etc was one, then it works.
For those who commit the major crimes like murder, robbery etc, I would see that 8years jail was 8 years jail not 2month parole and released in 1year, after being in a cell with a telelvison and cd player, and a nice life style. Its too easy for kids today to get away with this stuff, that is where I think now we are going wrong. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I do not think something like that would work over here, because you could see the kid going to the court of human rights saying that their rights have been breached!!!!! I have been in side one of the youth prisions, they have a better life in there than what they do in society, so the easiest way is to commit loads of crime and go back in. I have even had one of these kids admit this to me. And I have got to say this, I do blame the Chav culture as this is where some of them end up!
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
You hitting onto one of my points there, that we have these cushy jails for these offenders, who know this and just commit crime because it does pay. Now a shocker would be for them to find a jail with no tellys no media perhaps a tinny crappy radio with 2 batterys per month each.
They need a shocker, not a beating, or being put in pain, something to make them realise they should change there ways. Or face a long time in a very boring and dull place. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
how about then, making them camp out in the middle of the north york moors in the middle of january, is that short sharp enough for you, why dont they just bring back national service!!! Like they have in Sweden that would sort the lot of them out
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
Because
1) making them camp in middle of January would likely end up with you in court with the pc brigade. and 2) National service?? I see your point there but look at America they hit more friendlys then enemies and alot of there troops so I hear come from detention houses. I would like a prision for the under 21's, with no tellys or anything fancy but the basics to keep the human rights people happy, where they have a single room to themselves with toilet only let out for meals. BUT the change would be they would be trained in something, like electronics, computers, science, geography by a decent tutor, and if they was insubordinant, and aggressive etc this would then add to there sentence until they came out a reformed person with a qualification and a gentle hand to make sure they work and not commit again. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
You would still get the PC brigade barging in. Hang onthey aready do that at holme house prision near us, universities of Leeds and Durham both do long distance learing courses, but I do not see very many reformed people I am sorry to say. You have to take them from one enviroment which is causing them all the upset and move them to another where they cannot cause them harm or pain and they can start live again a fresh away from temptation. National service in this country is totally different from America, they have to do more rigorous training and it has more structure to the training.
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
If we dont tell the pc brigade to go and **** off somewhere else, then we will live in a crime ridden cess pit of a country.
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
We do and then we accused of baiting them dont we!!!!! If somebody does not sort these kids out now, god help our future!!!!
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
I recall a few years back there was a massive hooha in the news about a young American lad on an island (the Philippines I think) who had got bored and gone on the rampage, doing a bit of vandalism etc. The problem was, he got caught and found guilty. It was a problem because the punishment handed out by the court involved him being beaten with a bamboo cane.
Now, there were appeals etc, and the US government got involved, calling it barbaric. But as the government of the island in question pointed out, their crim levels were about zero... so who gets it right? The liberal society with a crime problem, or the harsh, brutal society that deals with crime effetively? |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I agree, we are totally on the wrong path, but with all these rights the crooks have they will re-offend till the heavens sing songs of the night and wear a pink tutu.
The law as it stands now for what we can do to criminals is about as useful as used toilet paper. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I do agree with you something has to be done sooner or later or we are going to be in one sorry big mess with no way out!
|
Re: The Youth of Today...
I can see corperal punishment being brought back in for repeat offenders although not the best, it does seem to work.
Perhaps we should look to other countries methods and see what works best? |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Quote:
It would probably violate a shed load of EU human rights laws anyway. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
That is the issue laws rights etc, this is what is driving society and local areas into a depression of gang hoods and youths running the area, cops cannot do anything because of new rules and rights. Courts cant do anything because of rules and rights.. they even tell you now not to bother replying as they will not be able to do anything.
JUST what can we do to make these youths understand how to behave?? |
Re: The Youth of Today...
It is not hard to control children. It's being bothered to do so that's the problem for some. For a few parents it just interferes with their own pleasures to do so.
I think that getting firmer with parents is the best way to go.Make them take responsibility for their children.Everyone thought it was terrible when that mother in Scotland was jailed because her daughter wasn't attending school. The child did start to go back to school though...I think that if parents won't take responsibilty both in the streets and at school they should be heavily fined and made to go on a parenting skills course. Also a curfew both for such parents and their offspring might be an idea as well. I also think we might have to rethink the age of responsibility if this downward trend continues. :erm: However having said all that I think that the actual number of cases is still small considering the number of our children that still are behaving and are not any kind of problem. :) |
Re: The Youth of Today...

Agreed :tu: |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I do agree with you there, a lot of these children have been excluded from education or just like going to cause upset and a disturbance to society. So they try to attract attention by doing these crimes, but when they have done them, they do not have any idea of what they have done or they switch off pretending they havent done the crime, they just think it is like the movies or TV and it isnt.

The old saying '' Spare the rod and spoil the child '' comes to mind with the low-life pond **** that seems to make up a large proportion of todays youth.
IMHO, parents should be allowed to chastise their children when they are disobedient. Schools should be allowed the same option as well, but in my opinion so should the law. Can you immagine the drop in crime if burglers, shoplifters, twockers etc got a dozen lashes of the ''Cat''. Society also needs to stop making jail a soft option for criminals, all of them should be doing ''hard labour'' inside. No need to make them do anything useful, just have them move a pile of big rocks from one place to another 8 - 12 hours a day. See how qiuckly reoffend rates drop then. As for National Service? Round up all the lazy, useless chav ****, train them not to shoot themselves and each other then rent them out as a meat shield to the UN. At that point its shape up or have some illiterate guerilla in Africa cut your head off. S**t, the little scrotes might even learn some self respect at the same time. |

Re: The Youth of Today...
We need to remember that the only good news of the media in the UK is bad news, good news doesn't sell newspapers or make TV documentaries.
We need to try and keep a sense of proportion. I believe the majority of youth and do we mean teenagers, are generally ok, we only read or view the antics of the relatively few. It's very easy to think that the current generation of teenagers is worse than our own were but take a look and think. I'm sure there are teenagers, many of them who do in fact lead decent lives. It's just that they don't make the headlines, they are not newsworthy enough, so let's be careful and not allow the troublesome few spoil the image of a generation. :) |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Very well said that man. Most kids don't get into trouble - can be full of cheek but who wasn't when they were a kid? There are also some truly miserable older folk who have a pop at kids just for knocking a ball about or whatever. So, a sense of perspective is indeed in order! There are some bad uns out there but also people are quicker nowadays to suspect and jump upon kids for being young and together (because of perception rather than reality).
This is not, incidentally, a defence of some of the grotesque acts detailed. |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Quote:
I base my views on kids of today by walking down the street and seeing what they are upto, I see pensioners afraid to walk past groups of them, and I can honestly never remember that in my day. I see them run up the street throwing over all the bins on a nightly basis, I see them out until all hours, throwing stones at cars. etc etc etc. No, I do not say thats all kids, but the increase is dramatic. Some may say its very few kids doing this sort of thing, but I would say it was almost unknown in my day. I had a group of kids throwing stones and verbal abuse for no reason a few months ago, they were then trying to bait me to follow them up a dark lane beside some shops. I just offered to take them all in the middle of the street, I know it was a silly thing to do, but these so called kids ie: young teenagers are capable of mugging adults. |

Re: The Youth of Today...
I don't know if anyones already mentioned this, but if you look at when teenage pregnancy first got quite high about 10-15 years ago, they raised the kids that they are today. Could there bad parenting and lack of maturity be a part of the children falling into society today?
(i'm a sociology student btw - so i come out with crap like this a lot! My own little theoies...:)Hmmm who knows Well i always remeber some quote i read once in a book i picked up. The quote is by a monk around 100BC in his journals he wrotes about times being bad when children are abusive and dont listen to there parents and other things...so its always been around, children should be locked up until there 20, then send em to work!!! Lol, joking...or am i? |
Re: The Youth of Today...
End of the day to sum it all up, we have hordes of kids who are just arse-holes, parents who are either on the game, addicts, or just do NOT give a damn. And the cops are powerless because of lawsuits being filed, we are living in a state where you could buy a pizza and have it delivered to your house faster then a cop will come when your car has been damaged, or your house burguled.
There is no deterrent to them, they go jail is all cushy, so when they come out after a nice vacation they re-offend. Now if we told the pc brigade to go right royally screw a lampost, and made cells 6ft by 9ft, one tiny window, bread and water with one decent meal a week ( with cheapo stuff ) and only a bible in there, or which ever religious preference they have. And no one to speak to, ankle chains and if they wish to be abusive handcuffs as well, and no luxurys just the raw basics. Would soon make them think. Sadly we need a deterent and what we have right now is kids and gangs and crime level hitting new record highs.. Something needs to be done. |

I don't know what the problem is it wasnt that long ago I was a kid, and by no means was I a saint. perhaps theres just a greater number of kids that are a bit ott. where I live weve had running battles (teenagers running up and down the road with scffold poles) when we first moved in because we where 3 young blokes we had our door basically kicked in and had to beat them out of the house. I then had one of my magnetic adverts stolen of the car. I had my jago jeep wrecked I then on saturday had a tire on my car slit..
I live in a really nice area of the owrld, but am just in a problem area... but i can not think of a solution... |

Re: The Youth of Today...
Reading the experiences of people here it has to be said that yes, there are without doubt problem youth. But this should not be a them or us war going on. There is now sufficient legislation and anti-social behaviour orders can be used to target offenders. But I still believe the majority of teenagers in the UK are not the problem. There may well be in certain areas gangs of anti-social youths but there are problably at lot more who are not involved in such behaviour.
More should be done to strengthen communities and people ought to build good relationships with all neighbours and provision should be made for facilities for youths. Teenagers should not be seen as an enemy but as part of community life. Perhaps it would be more helpful if people just dump their TVs in the rubbish tips and socialise more. :) |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Or we kick out the pc brigade and bring in tougher much tougher measures to make sure they understand being a yob and being abusive and wrecking nice neighbour hoods is not a wise thing, and that once in the slammer, there is no more comfy beds and telly and games to play and nice food. It is a single cell to you, with a tiny barred window with no glass just bars right through winter the only warmth is a tiny radiator and a blanket. They would have a toilet and 2 rolls per month of toilet paper, loose it or sell it dont care. No smokes no luxuries of any single solitary kind, even visitation would be severly limited.
WHY?? I hear you ask why be so severe...how else do you explain it to there thick minds that they aint gonna re-offend...by making them live a nightmare. I wonder how many would stop offending after 2years of hell. Sorry if this offends but its how to stop them look at other countries measures we would never get to use them because they get a pc brigade ranting, but yet they have it in order don;t they. |

SHAPE believes that hostile terms help to fuel the idea that children in trouble are trouble, with stories often being severly biased with no interest in portraying both sides of the story** Again, not many victims would describe them otherwise. I think it was shocking that my parents were told by a police officer to consider dropping the claim for £350 worth of damage, because he is a nice boy... The nice boy should be treated exactly the same as he treats others, this country has people who always look for a way to excuse people who act like this, broken home, poor.....the excuses never end. |

There is too little done in terms of preventative measures because of lack of resources. There's a lad in my youngest's class. His mum was a prostitute who was murdered, his dad a child abuser in nick. He lives with his nan (who is ill equipped to look after him) and brother (who's not exactly a good role model). When this kid was 5 the school reported concerns about his welfare (wandering the streets alone etc) to Social Services who said they could not do an assessment for 18 months to 2 years. He's now 9 and there is still no support from the authorities. The lad has good support from us and other families but he needs proper intervention because you can see he's primed to go on a downward spiral. This kid is not to blame for his situation but I can see he will soon be labelled as a 'yob', '****' etc when his life story has been so desperate. |

Re: The Youth of Today...
I often find it interesting how, when teens get in to serious trouble and end up killing others (like that Columbine massacre a few years back) we get so many people saying "Well where was your God that day?", even though it's usually the very same parents who have fought to keep religious studies out of their kids' schools in the first place.
This borders slightly on the other topic about RE. If the only thing that kids will learn from such classes is love and tolerance for all then I can't see it being a bad thing. I'm not saying all kids should be brought up as Christians (even though I'd prefer the world that way, I'm not naive enough to think that would be the instant cure for everything) but the traits which should be basic tenets of all faiths (love, patience, understanding) IMO are essential to all forms of schooling. |

At the same time I can quote from personal experience two friends who IMO both fell of the straight and narrow. The first friend live across the street from me untill I joined the army. His parents had always been too fond of the drink, and as such grew up in a disfunctional family environment. In the end my friend was sent down for 12 years (I believe), for membership of a ''Loyalist'' terrorist organisation, possession (explosive and firearms) and conspirecy to commit murder. So did his sh***y family background make him become a possible terrorist and murderer? Second friend came from a stable family background, but still ended up becomming a member of a proscribed terrorist organisation. So what made him become a *******? No easy answers to either senario I think. |

If however he sways off the straight and narrow, you can't say any of his victims are wrong to label him as a "Yob" or "****" if he earns that title. As far as I'm concerned, call a spade a spade. Why didn't I turn to a life of crime, sexual assault, drink, drugs and end up in prison like a few of my school friends. Perhaps it's because I made the choice to leave that route alone! |

If a young kid (say 9-10) gets in bother because his parent's are not caring, disciplining or controlling him/her properly I'm not sure it's right to label that child a yob or whatever. They're simply too young, impressionable and easy led at that age - they need help, not labelling. And I speak as someone who spends a fair amount of time helping care, control and discipline (well, shouting at) various kids around here - it's like breakfast and after school club around here (and I work from home too!!). Hope this has got me a sympathy vote! ;) Actually, annoying and cheeky as the local kids can be, generally they keep me smiling. __________________ Quote:
Probably not. You'd just blend in nicely with everyone else in the pubs and clubs of Britain I reckon (although you'd blend in even better if you were off your face on WKD or JD ;) |

What ever happened to a quiet mature party at the house, watching the game if one is one, having some movies on or the playstation, and some beers and ordering a pizza?

Note - The same cannot be said for all of the civilations (how they ended), but all civilisations do follow a roughly similar cycle of growth-stagnation-decay. |

I thought this was a good link
http://www.bartleby.com/65/sh/SheppardJ.html I have read the 'Road to Tyburn' book mentioned, believe me, if true, it was much scarier then, than now .... |
Re: The Youth of Today...
I dont think theres any links to the behaviour of the kids these days.
We go around looking for the stupidest things the parents may have done instead of spending money on sorting out the justice system, and creating one that:- a) works b) will put the fear of god into them c) stop prosecuting the adults that brain these little ****s I admit on more than one occasion I have commited common assault on a teenager. And actually yes I am quite proud of it, because the litte **** needed a lesson in humility. I have no time for the tarquin has a behavioural problem brigade, what tarquin needs is a bloody good thrashing off someone. ******** to all this, you cant smack your kids, I do and I will. Does it not strike you as odd that since this ban smacking campaign started we find children younger and younger committing more and more serious crimes? I was well pleased that the 13 year old was jailed at teesside crown court for life. He deserved it, the PC brigade tried to make excuses for him, but he was nothing more than a savage little ****. Perhaps once he's had a few good beatings in prison he will start to learn, thats if he survives prison, either way I shant shed a tear for him. I heard that he was upset at the sentence, i assumed that was the reporters attempt a comedy, was he supposed to be celebrating? There is one bad side to the sentence, and thats this. Life in prison isnt protecting the public from him, its protecting him from the public. we hear on the news everday about kids being involved in serious crime, jail them. Get tough, make them fear the thought of prison, make them realise they WILL be jailed. Lets be sensible, if a 13 year old is big enough to try and mug me, he's big enough to suffer the consequences from me for trying to mug me. Lets not prosecute the victims or intended victims, lets get the criminals and those with criminal intent. Lets stop wasting money on giving them social workers and counselling, what they need is bloody lobotomies. Arrghhh I swear the next little scrote that walks past me with his trousers tucked in his socks, covered in filth stinking to high heaven and talking like retard is gonna get kicked. Why? Because we all know, and its from experience that its these little scrotes that go out nicking stuff and being anti social, well I for one am sick and I'm going to be damned ****ing hostile towards them. Parents get the blam for all sorts these days, most are working and finding it hard to make ends meet. To do so they work all the hours they can. You will often find, or rather I have often found, its the kids with working parents that are the worst. /end rant |

Re: The Youth of Today...
errr was it something I said?
(probably heh) I do stand by my views, my family has "problem children" and I still think it. I worry about my own son, he's coming up 3, what sort of life is he going to have if current trends continue? Short sharp shock is what I truelly believe is needed, the liberal approach is spiraling out of control, its time to look elsehwere and find a new solution. |

There were probably none more vicious towards their children than the victorians. What happened in those times, Oh jack the ripper was killing prostitues, it was such an outrage. These days prostitues are killed daily, OAPS in Swiss cottage are beheaded in the street. Children are being raped by other children. Whats different? We have a more liberal society now, and I firmly believe thats what is at fault. |

I never go out looking for trouble, but I do get a good deal of pleasure when someone picks on me and they end up worse off. When I read or hear about teenagers mugging pensioners etc, I just wish it was me they tried it with instead. It's like putting your hand in the fire, it hurts and you wont do it again. Attempt to mug someone and get a good beating in the process, you just might decide its not a wise move. Unfortunately the liberals throw common sense out of the window and say things like "He's a good boy really" !!!! How the hell do they come to that conclusion. :Yikes: |
Re: The Youth of Today...
Well we could do what the Victorians did.......
Send them all to Australia.... :) |

There has to be something done with the situation, parents need to be punished for not taking responsibility. Is the situation worse because parents are not as responsible these days as they were years ago? My parents were both under 17 when I was born in the late 60's, I suppose they could be described as irresponsible to a degree, but I was always kept under control and would be shown the error of my ways if I did not comply. I remember fondly being chased around the house by my Nan with the "Washing machine Boiler Stick" to avoid a good beating, a beating wasn't for her perverted pleasure it was used to stop me from growing up to commit crime like other kids etc. I guess thats where the views were different, if you didn't behave you would grow up to be a criminal. These days they dont wait to grow up to be a criminal. |
