Re: ok whats this
Are you in the Cardiff area by any chance?
Browneggsandham :) |
Re: ok whats this
You probably won't notice any difference (except having to reboot less) till early March.
After that you'll probably have access to Video on Demand. |
Re: ok whats this
yes i am in cardiff as it happens, so what was those list of channels i saw coming across the screen if thats indeed what it was on channel 119 i can't remember the names of most of the channels but i know one of them was mtv live

Re: ok whats this
Oh it was talking about Broadband Plus - the extra content package from NTL for 750k/1.5meg customers
|
Re: ok whats this
Go to your on demand. If there is a difference there then you now have true VOD. Think Cardiff got updated this morning
|
Re: ok whats this
i don't see any difference can anyone tell me how vod works in not so techinal terms and also how much does it cost and what channel do i have to be on to get it to work
|
Re: ok whats this
It don't think it will be turned on yet, so you're unlikely to see any major differences.
Can you check something for me? Press Page Up, Page Down, and then Blue on your remote control. Select More twice, and reply with the SW Version shown. Thanks. |
Re: ok whats this
ok i i'm not sure what you meant by that i pressed up and down and then blue button and came up with a list of reminders
|
Re: ok whats this
It needs to be Page Up, then Page Down (not Channel Up/Down).
|
Re: ok whats this
ok then is the button that shows whats on tv at the mo and whats on next
__________________ ok i got it sw is just a lot of numbers and letters i dont get it dont understand techinaal stuff what does sw mean anyway |
Re: ok whats this
SW is short for Software, and the version number will tell us whether you are on the VoD code or not. Nothing in the string of letters and numbers can identify you in any way.

Re: ok whats this
Well, I've just rebooted my STB, and can confirm that regions fed from the Cardiff and Swansea headends have had a software update. It seems we're now on 3_2_P12N.
The biggest difference (noticable right now anyway) is how much faster the software is. Once the box has finished starting up, things fairly whoosh along compared to previously! Also, any branding left over that said "ntl:home" has been changed to "ntl:", including the startup screen. |

Re: ok whats this
When you got to channel 107 Front Row should have become FilmFlex and there should be a Press Red prompt :)

Re: ok whats this

Pace DiTV 2000 Hardware Version P2.18 Software Version P2.3.1.PO.CR3 No VOD yet :( |
Re: ok whats this
love the grim fandango avatar nostra.
I posted as Xeron on digitalspy forums about this and thought it was a fault as my box reported an error but eventually booted up. The menus are ALOT faster, I get the feeling that there are no memory leaks and have peace of mind using the guide now, though interactive is still slow. BTW: VOD isn't enabled yet, still have front row content but the VOD logo on the main menu has changed. EDIT: Just found a cool feature, if the channel you are watching doesn't have interactive content when the red button is pressed nothing happens! Great for reducing the waste of time on the old platform. |
