You know - despite having seen all the episodes im not that surprised - its been below par - in fact, since the Next Gen Trek has been same old, same old with every series flouting the same old crap.

When something like Battlestar come along it makes you realise how bad trek had got.

I never really liked Enterprise. Generations was always my favourite.

Re: Enterprise Treking no more !

I thought Scott Bakula was really good as Sam in Quantum Leap but I watched the first episode of Enterprise and have not seen another episode. I think the Star Trek franchise has run its course and they shouldn't try to go down any other avenues with it. To be perfectly honest, I thought most of the new Star Trek shows were pretty lame, Generations and Voyager had their moments but none of the shows could hold a light to the original Star Trek with Kirk & Spock. Whenever I hear the tune on the end credits it brings back memories of watching the show on BBC2 in the evenings whilst having my tea.

Is that the one where they left off on Sky, or do we have one more series to see here?

If you can't do without some trek, try www.newvoyages.com

Season 4 (the last) of enterprise starts in march on sky 1.

Re: Enterprise Treking no more !

I really didn't think a prequel series would work and I was right. They messed about too much with the continuity of the Star Trek universe.IF they had stuck with the limited McGuffins that they had at the beginning of the series i.e.the phasers and the transporter the series would have worked better for me.However they just HAD to drag in time travel yet again as a tired means of varying storylines. This played even more havoc with the recognised timeline as set in previous series.

They had a real opportunity to weave a good sub plot with the eventual acceptance of the vulcans for humans and vice versa but never took it beyond the relationship between the captain and his science officer. I wanted to know more about the eventual setting up of the United Federation of Planets. This would have been where the burgeoning relationship with the Andorians would have been better developed.I also would have loved to have learned more about previously mentioned aliens like the Oriens and the piglike aliens whose species name I have forgotten.

Instead they dragged in a whole lot of aliens that have never been mentioned at any point in the original series thus going off in a direction that took us away from the original premise of the series and employing the cheating use of time travel yet again..It was lazy plotting and scripting.

Borg V Star trek, and I mean the entire human race v the entire borg race, include some cardacians, some klingons, few romulans....could have a mega sci=fi movie.

It is sad news, it is a shame they could not have finished the final fifth series first.

As I have said before, Enterprise was Star Trek for people (like myself) who enjoyed Babylon 5. There are many parallels between B5 and Enterprise.

I thought it was getting a lot better once they worked their way out of the pathetic clifhanger from last year.

The ones with Brent Spiner were quite good too.

I did hear around the 21st or the 28th.

But don't quote me on that :)

Check on IMDB, it has been in the works for a while now. The main star was due do be Sam Becket's daughter, who apparently goes looking for him.

I certainly enjoyed B5, rating it amongst my all time favorites, but Enterprise??

Sorry, it comes *nowhere* near. It was ok to while away an hour and occasionally extract the urine of, but there's simply no comparison with B5!

some eps of enterprise were rubbish when it had a plot especially the 2-3 parters or the whole season3 story arc then it was good.

one thing it misses is a funny guy its all so serious u need one liners

The one problem I had with enteprise was that they made out that it wouldnt be based around technobabble like all of the other treks in the franchise. Unfortunatley this turned out not to be true and has in fact been over reliant on technobabble especially when it comes to time travel.

Sorry, I did not mean that Enterprise was like B5 but that it was closer in style than other Star Trek programs. I could take or leave other Star Treks, if I saw an epsisode then fine, if not I would not care. However, Enterprise had something about it that meant I would purposely watch the next episode.

I would agree B5 was far superior than Enterprise ever could be but I enjoyed the stories and season long arcs none the less.

However, I have been buying the B5 box-set DVDs and rewatching all the episodes (it makes so much more sense the second time around) and I would never consider doing that for Enterpirse.

Season long? the main story of the shaddows ran from season 2 to 4 and there where hints of it in season 1 and 5 aswel. Lets face it, the only SciFi to come close to B5's greatness is SG1 though atlantis and BSG show great potential.

Ah, fair enough. Although, for me, sometimes that "something" that Enterprise had was "what the hell sort of nonsense are they going to dump on us *this* week?!"

I have almost the whole of B5 on video, only missing TKO (no great loss that!) and "Legacies" (because of the stupid way C4 broadcast it) and tend to I watch the whole thing through at least once a year.

For me SG1 was too much a "one schtick" show. The team go to some new world, find some humans who have been cut off/ repressed by the Goa'uld or meet up with some new sort of threat, shoot up some Jaffa or similar, argue about ethics then go home for tea and buns.

It may have got better after the first series, but I just couldn't stay with it.

BSG is interesting (apart from that bloody irritating wobbly camera work, haven't these people heard of tripods and will the camera man keep his sodding fingers off the zoom settings!) the question, however, is whether it can hold itself together after its "big revelations".

Fair enough ;)

As for SG1, I have only just got into it with the current series that is being shown on Sky1 and can safely say that I am now gripped (and with Atlantis)! I had only seen the odd episode from previous series and had never really gotten interested (so perhaps it has improved, Graham).

SG1 really began to shine from the end of season 2, its actually started to go a little bit downhill in the current season appart from the season premier and the recent two parter but its still better than most other series at the moment.
The best two seasons in sg1 IMO would be 5 & 6 wich strangley enough seems to be true for most shows.

EDIT: Im looking forward to the new series, they have brought back apophis, quite possibly the best bad guy in SG1 as he just wont die :D

EDIT2: though the did go a little enterprise esq with thier method of bringing him back, it apparently involves time travel.

Resurrecting this thread, I noticed the following news on Digital Spy:

'Next Gen' actors to appear in 'Enterprise' finale

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds19247.html

Star Trek: The Next Generation actors Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis will make guest appearances in the Enterprise finale, it has been confirmed.

Speaking at a UK conference at the weekend, Frakes said that the pair - last seen together in Star Trek Nemesis - would be starring in a secretive plot for the show's last ever episode.

Filming is due to begin shortly before the episode airs May 13 on UPN in the States.

This is one reason I couldn't take this show any more. All this tying the different time periods together with sighhh! 'TIME TRAVEL'.

Oh dear, we're back to "Star Drek - The Same Old Plots".

Ye gods, this just smacks of utter desperation on the part of the script writers, "we can't think of what else to do, so let's drag in some characters from one of the other versions of the show".

Well, I finally got to see Enterprise, season 4, part 1 on Tuesday ... and was dismayed by the same old, same old tripe that is shortly to consign it to the great oblivion that is the final resting place of all tired old franchises.

Dim-witted plot

Great, some BEM has travelled back in time, hooked up with the Nazis and altered events so that the eastern US gets invaded. Even though Hitler couldn't even make it across the 20-odd miles to Britain while our army was in disarray and our air force was down to its last few fighters, somehow the Third Reich has found the resources to cross the Atlantic, aided and abetted by a small band of monsters who are so ill-equipped they have to rely on German help to build themselves a way home. Yeah, right.

Thoughtless set design

I just loved the campaign map on the office wall behind the big boss nasty alien, showing the battle lines in the US but leaving Canada completely blank. Of course, the Canadians were of no strategic importance whatsoever during World War II, and their reaction to an invasion of continental North America would naturally be quite irrelevant. Yeah, right.

Braga et al are still getting off on their masterpiece 'Temporal Cold War' story arc

And they are the only ones who are.

I can only hope Dr Who can fulfil my need for good Sci Fi instead.

Rumours I've heard about the very end of ST:E

(spoilers - highlight to read)

It turns out that the entire series has been......a holonovel, which Riker & Troi have been watching on the Holodeck.

Absolutely ridiculous. It cannot be true, surely.

Its just rediculous enough to tie in with the rest of the plot so its probably true ;)

Though they are still trying to get broadcast on another network arnt they? if they are that would be a stupid way of ending it as it kinda prevents any further plot developement.

Tonights was quite good. The trouble is - I no longer make a point of watching it. If it's on and I'm doing nothing then I'll see it.

I think the trouble is it's too little too late.

I must asmit I'm extremely skeptical about the ideas behind the last episode. But I've no doubt I'll see that one.

Well, somebody mentioned here about a rumor they had heard regarding how they would end the series and how it sounded absolutely crap - a statement i agree with BTW - involving Riker and Troy from Next Gen - which i wont go into here, you can look back and find it if you really wand to know in advance...

BUT - just been on the BBC website which mentions the final show and says that, wait for it - riker and troy are in it. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4535919.stm)

If they end it like the rumor suggests then that really sums up why that show went horribly wrong.

enterprise was ok need some comedy and more of a love interest between sexy lady and mr engineer

it was just oh so random apart from season 3 that had a nice story arc

Re: Enterprise Treking no more ! [Warning, season 4 spoilers!]

Actually - they are in it and the spoiler was kind of right - but its not the same and actually they did not a bad job of ending it.

Helps if you watch the Next Generation episode (which incidentally Sky had on just the other day) called The Pegasus for some background infomation (THIS IS NOT A SPOILER THOUGH) (Episode 164 according to Amazon) in which Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) meets up with his old captain (Terry O'Quinn), now a Starfleet admiral, from the Federation ship Pegasus. He orders Riker not to share the true purpose behind an Enterprise mission to salvage the Pegasus: retrieving an advanced cloaking device that is illegal under Federation law. But when the technology is used to phase the Enterprise inside an asteroid (where it partially fuses with solid rock).

I got that as well from Amazon BTW :D

I just watched it and actually thought it was a good way to end it.

imho worst trek ending of them all, tng ending was supurb, voyagers was very good, ds9's was good, this was well, mediocre at best.
They should of played on the mirror universe more, since it doesnt screw with the timeline, and well those two eps were the best of all for seasons imho

TheBlueRaja 15-05-2005 01:35

Re: Enterprise Treking no more ! [Warning, season 4 spoilers!]

Yeah,
The mirror universe episode was quite good and i am surprised it ended when it did - but i get the feeling that the storyline for those two episodes were supposed to be much longer - i get the feeling it was trimmed a bit because they knew the show was cancelled.

Either way - shame its over - but - if it helps to get rid of Bergman then thats ok IMO.

Just seen the ending...not bad. Interesting way of going out though.

I still think that this series had improved from the earlier ones. It's just annoying that it took the cancellation to get them to improve.

No more Star Trek for a while! :Yikes:

I thought it was a pretty pants final episode :(

...odd that it centered around Riker and Troi mid-TNG series.

Someone please explain why Riker was thumbing through the Archer era? What was he trying to learn, and why Archer at the signing of this pre-federation alliance???

I wished the damn Sky presenter wouldn't talk over the end theme and bollox up the credits into half a screen so you can't read them, especially with it being the last episode n'all.

I saw it as Riker looking for inspiration, as in, whether to tell Picard about the cloaking device on the Pegasus.

'cos Archer helped stop the Xindi.?? :dozey:

I think they could have come up with a Enterprise only series finale without Jonathan Frakes getting in the frake'ing way!

Just becuase he's a top ST series director doesn't mean you can frakeing get on every frakeing act!

Loser!, and shave off that damn beard! ;)

I kinda hope there is something new in the pipeline, I enjoy my star trek and would love something new to come out, perhaps a new next generations with the NX-95 or something.

We need more is there ANYTHING planned new?

Well here's what I said in this thread back in February...

And now I've seen the final episode I stand 100% behind those comments!

Ye gods, what a pile of poo that was :grind:

"Let's kill someone off so we can leak spoilers and get people to watch and find out who gets it"

"Great idea! We'll have Trip Tucker acting OTT and totally out of character and then, instead of thinking up some smart way to defeat the aliens, he commits suicide instead!"

"Yeah! And we'll have the aliens who are supposed not to be able to do more than about Warp 2 suddenly be able to catch up with the Enterprise that can now do Warp 7 for no good reason other than it makes the plot work".

"Ok, that's fine. Oh and we'll have Archer and Tucker run into the aliens without a sign of the Maco's who are supposed to protect the ship from intruders..."

"Brilliant! And then we'll drag in Riker (even though he looks really fat and old) and pretend that he's in the middle of the Pegasus incident, although everyone's going to be screaming 'we've done this already!' and stick in Troi for no good reason either. Oh and we'll get Brent Spiner to record a quick com message and drag the old Next Gen sets out of storage to try and make it look as if we've finally decided to care about continuity..."

Etc, etc etc...

You ought to put that into the "moans and pet hates" thread!

It's so *bloody* annoying, you're just thinking about what you've just seen and that stupid woman cuts in and irritates the hell out of you trying to plug some other show that you're most probably not interested in anyway!

If they do I suspect it'd be set way after Voyager... maybe Daniels (the Enterprise's chef) timeine???

Re: Enterprise Treking no more ! [Warning, season 4 spoilers!]

The last I heard is that there will be no more trek series for about 5 years.

And that the film will follow the following format
Spoiler:
It will be set after the end of Enterprise and before the original series - with an entirely new crew. The possibility of doing the Romulan wars has been mentioned.
If it works this is what has been suggested to develop into the next Series.

Anyway, I'm going away for a few days, back later :)
