They will only delay things, just now you'll see a surge of sites like this where you can send files upto 1 gig to a recipient.

streamload comes to mind... you have to pay a small amount per month, but you still can get anything you want, and it usually appears there faster than the torrents/edonkey network :erm:

When they say "servers" do they mean the trackers? Sites that hold torrents aren't illegal because a torrent isn't illegal unless you use it?

Good-bye!
Greetings everybody, As you have probably noticed, we have often had downtimes. This was because it was so hard to keep this site up! But now we are sorry to inform you all, that SuprNova is closing down for good in the way that we all know it. We do not know if SuprNova is going to return, but it is certainly not going to be hosting any more torrent links. We are very sorry for this, but there was no other way, we have tried everything. Thank you all that helped us, by donating mirrors or something else, by uploading and seeding files, by helping people out on IRC and on forum, by spreading the word about SuprNova.org. It is a sad day for all of us! Please visit SuprNova.org every once in a while to get the latest news on what is happening and if there is anything new to report on. As we wish to maintain the nice community that we created, we are keeping the forums and irc servers open. Thank you all and Goodbye! sloncek & the rest of the SuprNova Team

Re: bittorrent and edonkey sites shutdown

Maybe time for people to check out www.isohunt.com

They only have links to the torrents, and don't host them. A little slow since the demise of Supernova but an excellent place to get torrents all the same.

:D

A general call to all P2P-users

As of late the MPA's and RIAA's of the world are claiming that we are robbing them of their rightly earned money and are trying to find ways to legally put and end to it. The scare tactics have been fruitful, it would seem as they keep getting settlements out of court and probably make a profit out of it.

This campaign of theirs, of course, isn't to target and eradicate filesharing as much as an attempt to control the market and where our money goes. Most of us feel that they should very well look into availability and affordable prices instead of claiming higher moral ground. The wealthiest nowadays decide what we shall listen to and watch, using staggering PR campaigns, and most releases are "format" productions, where talent and creativity comes second only to business concept and money.

Ironically, dramatic theatres, opera houses and so on are desperately trying to find an audience among the "common" people, as it's seemed like high-brow, and here we are dealing with a situation where the production companies are working towards a dangerous inaccessibility for regular Joes. It is a natural thing that we want to be able to watch the movies and listen to the music, it has always been and always will be. Hence we turn to filesharing, and/or borrow CD's from our friends and so on.

Availability and affordable prices.

How many has bought a CD, watched a movie that has turned out to be less than satisfactory? How many has felt cheated of a night out at the movies, going there following posters and trailers for a big box-office release that turned out to be one of those "let's save the movie company a few bucks by fooling people into watching this dud during the first weekend"? How many get sick to their stomachs hearing about revenue losses and then be treated to a "Cribs" episode on MTV? The production companies has the audacity to say that we are using people's creativity and talent, without paying for it. Well - guess what - most P2P'ers actually DO BUY THE PRODUCTS THEY LIKE.

We continue to see fantasy figures of what kind of revenues the production companies would have had, weren't it that the products were obtainable online. It's complete and utter nonsense, of course, as they seem to be oblivious to the highly human trait that they sport themselves, are shared by everybody: The Power Of Owning. Everybody wants to own things. Having a pirated copy NEVER exchanges the glory of a movie theatre or having a box bought and paid for, that prides your bookshelves.

And to prove this, a general call out to all that has shared a file, downloaded something from online or think that the prices are outrageous in general, let's send a message to the powers that be.

New to YouSendIt? Here's what you do.

http://www.yousendit.com/images/homepage/step_1.gif Choose who you want to send a file to. It can be anyone with an email address. You can specify multiple email addresses separated by commas.

http://www.yousendit.com/images/homepage/step_2.gif Select a file to send. You can send photos, audio, documents or anything else. Your file will be stored by YouSendIt without ever filling up your recipient's mailbox.

http://www.yousendit.com/images/homepage/step_3.gif Click on Send. YouSendIt will automatically email your recipient a link to your file stored on our server. Your file will be deleted after seven days. No passwords to share, no software to install, no accounts to create, and no full mailboxes.

I can't see that being very effective, trackers can be easily changed to another address.

well if trackers are forced to change DNS its only a matter of time before they get attacked again.

plus if they have redirection setup.....

Depends what u are sending.

Bittorrent is perfectly legal, many companies use it to distribute large files. A transfer protocol isn't illegal, its what you are sending.

Yup... And they intermated that the MPAA will go after users, not just the websites. Could just be scare tactics though.

Makes me wonder how long the other sites will last. Maybe they are located overseas.

Speaking to somebody about the 'legal fund'...never heard anything of the 'battle' so imo, they've run off with the money too :/

Well we've got the future, snarf-it + exeem if it ever kicks off now it is free from adware.
