HELP !!!!!! PPC problem advice needed soon

Hi all, don't laugh, I was talking to someone on my xda whilst having a pee ( i know them well enough ):p:
Yep you guessed it, slipped from under my chin straight into the loo bowl, its on the radiator drying out at the moment good or bad move.

Suggestions welcome for drying out

TIA

EDIT: have lost some functions via the touch screen display :(

Put it in the airing cupboard.

Possibly may cause condensation by drying too quickly on the radiator ???

edit - and take the battery out.... DO NOT USE IT UNTILL YOU ARE SURE IT'S DRY

Re: HELP !!!!!! PPC problem advice needed soon

Leave it powered down and with the battery out on a warm radiator for 24 hours and allow the circuitry to dry out fully. Turning it on while it may still have water/ other fluids inside the device will only cause it more damage.
I dropped my mobile in the pond while fixing the pump and it was fine after a day on the radiator. You may see problems with it if you get corrosion on contacts due to the immersion though :(

Between a rock and a hard place then, problem with the xda is if you remove the battery you lose all instaled data, have back ups of contacts and the like but stand to lose a lot more: have not got it directly on the radiator but on a towl, don't know if that will make a difference

Thanks

On a towel is probably ok then :)

But I'm serious here - take the battery out - you don't want with power while it's wet. You could well bugger it up permanently.

's up to you - but i'd pull the battery out.

Ouch :( 9 times out of 10 it's the data that is the real loss in these circumstances :( You always figure out that you haven't backed everything up after something like this happens.

Is it any use using a hair dryer on it to speed the drying?

If you dry it too quickly condensation may form inside - which is bad.

Thats real bad, I cancelled the insurance on my xda2 so i'll have to be carefull.

But on the loo whilst talking? your asking for trouble....

One thing people have not mentioned is rinsing it out properly, I mean its going to be soaked in urine :erm: , A good rinse and leaving it unplugged in a airing cupboard for 2 days will fix it if its possible.

mark

I'll use it as a test bench, new roms and the like, if it works again that is, just tried offering the battery into it, not even located and the whole things shaking like a dog parting with bones ;)

yeah, you'd think the comments would be raining in, wouldn't you.;)

- think you might need to let it dry out a bit longer, Bop, the only way you could speed it up, safely, is if you have access to a vacuum chamber - do you know anyone who works in a laboratory?

Yeah, I do as a matter of fact, could do with taking it to one of my old work places, not sure on the welcome though  and the amount of hasstle to vac down a reactor ( 10 tonnes ) not a lab sort not to mention the cost.

I think the radiator wins ;)

 think you might be right - it would take too long to evacuate a 10 tonne reactor, anyway ;)

what a pain :(

Thats about the size of it, looking at the battery there seems to be no water damage, and if it does do anything to the new xda, well then its just a faulty unit :tu:
