Over on the Site Discussion forum, some person called Avril Lavigne appears to be making people hot under the collar. I've just Googled the name and according to an Avril Lavigne fan site she is a "hot new recording artist who is taking over the music scene".

So:

a) Is she hot? As an aside, can anyone name the last tepid new recording artist?

b) Has she taken over the music scene?

c) If she has, why have I never seen her mentioned in the papers or on the news?

well here is how i described her in one of my threads i started on the .com site

avril lavigne she is a fresh face to the music scene someone who you would least expect to be a female artist coupled with good looks a sweet yet powerful voice lyrical finesse and music which is a mix of pop/rock/punk makes her my favorite female artist

shes also not your usual britney crap you can get :D :D

indeed i think shes hot but i actually bought her album infact on import 2 cd special edition also it is my first album i have EVER bought i usally buy just the singles as the albums tend to be crap

I really hate Avril. She is without a doubt, the biggest poseur ever. She literally has it written in big letters across her forehead. She is as far from being punk as you can get. Shes a Britney, and should just have some integrity, and come out with it. Shes probably bigger than Britney and Christina anyways. I just wish she would stop pretending to be punk/latching onto our always fluctuating popularity/unpopularity.

As someone that listens to a wide range of music all I can say is that I don't switch off if one of her songs comes on. Then again I wouldn't buy the album. Makes you wonder when we are gonna see the arrival of someone on the music scene that is going to last more than 2-3 albums before fading away into obscurity.

Avril seems Ok to me, but I agree with Punky that its not Punk.

Is it kronas's birthday or something, to merit all this attention?

I have never defended Kronas before:D but I'm going to have to here.

Her music is OK, wouldn't buy it but wouldn't turn over if it came on TV (accept for the really bad knocking on heavens door)but I think she is pretty sweet looking.

Her album is certainly more interesting than Christina Aguilera's Stripped album. I found that on "Stripped", all the songs started to sound very similar after track 9 (something like 15 tracks on the album).

I like both, but "Let Go" is better..:D
