[Merged] Was this for real ? (ntl cs message)

Was this recorded message for real or just someone trying to get NTL a worse name than it has, Or then someone who has lost their job in the recent redundances getting their revenge?

Quote:

Quoted from the Sun
CALLERS reporting faults to phone giants NTL yesterday were greeted by a recorded message telling them to f*** off.

A gruff man with a strong Geordie accent made the foul-mouthed announcement.

He said: †œHello. You are through to NTL customer services. We donââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t give a f*** about you. We are never here.

†œWe just will f*** you about, basically, and we are not going to handle any of your complaints. Just f*** off and leave us alone. Get a life.ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šà ¬Ã‚Â

NTL was unavailable for comment late on Sunday but the Sun said the message had now been changed and an NTL spokesman had apologised for the matter.
I think he should be fired and fined for it.

well what a cockup typical of ntl at the moment customers can not get through to customer service and when they do you get this in your face.

i remember the day when i was working at ntl and had to ring through to tech support for some reason, went through the IVR (phone system) and i heard a message where they were trying to put a message abt problems in a certain area and they kept messing it up...usually u then press a button and it erases it and you start again but fr this unlucky guy it didn't work. All you could hear between tries cos f**k this bollox that then the proper message. It made my week when i heard that, the guy who messed it up though got a ticking off :D

how is it ntl's fault exactly????

Hardly the end of the world and probably quite funny to those that heard it.

First ideas lead to a disgruntled employee I believe.

So it couldn't possibly be anything to do with it being the end of another month where redundancies are happening!

If anyone was being made redundant or handed in their notice at the company I work for, they would be escorted off the premises and put on gardening leave immediately.

Thats what most organisations with a good reputation do!

ntl has a history of working people right up until their last day, letting them keep thier cabinet keys, swipe cards and dial in remote access after they have left the company. What would anyone expect in that situation!

A little maturity and a quick flick through the employee handbook to make sure what they've done isn't going to get them sacked and lose their rights to any redundancy or notice pay. I really am amazed at how some peoplw get off..... :dunce:  :monkey:

If they have only been with the company a short time surely it would not be an issue, there were incidents of vandalism in south wales shortly after a load of employees were laid off from a installation contractor.

We all know people who have robbed the company, one even used his butt phone in a cabinet to phone a taxi when he left the pub. Another ordered thousands of pounds worth of equipment for his own personal use. Another one repudedly sh*t in one of the cabinets

None of these people thought they would get caught.

This sort of thing happens, some people do things when they are leaving companies it's a fact.

Salu 27-09-2004 16:47

Re: [merged] Was this for real ? (ntl cs message)

I can't believe that some can "hack" into a phone system and change the message......unless they are on the inside...

Re: [Merged] Was this for real ? (ntl cs message)

It was alleged that something similar like this occured but it was not a recorded message, a certain banned member of this forum used to work for ntl and was in the nthellworld.com CLT.

I remember when they posted in the CLT forum on nthellworld.com that they may have to leave the CLT because they were up for disciplinary action and could lose their job because it was alleged that this ntl employee told a customer to **** off over the telephone. I believe the employment of this individual was quite rightfully terminated with immediate effect.

I find it totally bizarre and ironic that this ex ntl employee with this disgusting attitude to customers now owns and operates an ntl customer orientated site with a very similar name and copycat version to nthellworld.com.

There are reports of some NTL service support staff getting extremely stressed of late  Maybe it was a employee who had just had a particularly bad day?? We all have them. :p:

Well let's be glad that someone did record it, and that it's available to be heard on the BBC website!!

There's a link to the RealPlayer file in the top right corner.

I have the 'alternative' real player installed, and that plays it.

Wouldn't have windows Media *cough microsoft * player on my PC...... I use alternative and it works just fine..

With the alternative I just clicked on the link and it played no problems seems the only ones to have a problem are those who use microsofts media player which isn't a suprise..

I wouldn't be suprised if he was an ex-employee who had been made redundant and still knew how to access the system. either that or he probably gained the knowledge form another current or disgruntled employee.

Theres no way anyone can do that without inside knowledge!

I guess it was a bit like knowing the local rate number for "The Box" back in the old days. It was easy to phone up without using the premium number if you were in the know.

Apparently :D
