2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
2 Attachment(s)
For the students amongst us...
ntl are repeating their student offer this year, whereby the minimum contract is 9 months. The difference this year is that it is possible to get digital TV (and the phone line rental is free), and also reduced price broadband - £15.99 for 300k, or £19.99 for 750k. Proof of being a student might be required though! (Mods, please sticky this if you think it would be helpful) |

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
Hey,
Would this apply to an existing customer? We've had ntl services for the past 12 months - and I'm only on the lowly 300k service at the moment. I'm in East London. Any help please??? Thanks, Phil. |
Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
OK, I can answer my own question. Its only available to new students by the looks of it. Oh well...

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
Sorry, the bundled offer applies to new ntl customers only - although if you live with another student, you could always put it in their name... For reference, I've put the full text of the small print below, in case it's unreadable in the scan I've done.

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
I have to say well done to NTL in this case.It seems like a great offer.
I won't mention it to my now ex-student daughter though in case she blows a gasket. :D |
Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
Hangy on, it says "Bundled offer applies to new ntl customers only" - which implies that it is the bundled tv and phone package that you can only get as a new customer. Does this mean I could still get the upgrade to 750k for £2 on top of what I now pay for 300k?

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
I'm going to answer myself again - the 750k Broadband is only available at the lower price as part of a bundle including TV and Telephone. We've just got bband and phone here. Oh well!

Hi, was wondering if anyone could answer my questions. I'm in London and I've heard about the NTL student offer. How can i register for it? I've been through the NTL website but can't find the offer. I've tried calling the helpline as well but nobody picks up. Thanks.

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
I just heard that NTL have stopped the 9 month agreement for students.
Which makes me wonder what will happen to the students who sign up in October. They will be gone in June, but will still technically be tied to 12 months. Most will just churn, but will that affect their credit rating? Or will NTL release them from their contract because they are moving to a different area (eg parents Home)? or will they charge a break-in contract fee? |
Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
I have just signed up for the deal, not a bad offer.... although i did sign up for the 12month contract, which is a little annoying.
It will be interesting to see what i can do when it comes to the summer, and im going home... where i cant get ntl... will i be able to terminate the contract or what... i very much boubt it. |
Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
Yes, you will. If, when you come to move out of your student accomodation, you give ntl 30 days notice that you are moving to an off-net location (they may require Post Code, etc.), they will terminate the contract early without penalty.

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
Thats really good news if that is the case Jimbo, although, i will be staying in the same flat next university year (so i wont be at the flat for about 3 months over the summer), so i guess i wouldnt be able to get ntl the next year???

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
Oh cool, I'll ring up NTL then and tell them I'm a Student at college so I can get 750K for £20 :p:

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer
OK that is faulse advertising. Says "Students" on that picture, but then it's people at uni only? Students is basically high shcool, college, uni etc :erm:

Re: 2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer

It is perfectly valid advertising. It also states you have to be over 18 and is 'available subject to status' within the general T&C. So be careful before you make sweeping statements like that - on this occasion I am not going to Sue you in the High Court, but only because you mis-spelt "false" :D |
