Gmail probs!!!!
 

I have sent 4 emails from my Gmail account to hotmail addys and not one of these has got there over 24 hours now and counting...it sends to other addys no probs any ideas? :td:

hotmail bounces gmail address as they no like gmail

I've just tested this too....

My hotmail was indeed putting all my gmails straight into the junk mail - i've added it to the safe senders list and they go straight in now.

Well all I can say is that when I received my invite it was to my hotmail account and all my subsequent test emails sent to and from hotmail have arrived without fail, there were a few delayed somewhere for an hour but they all made it :confuised: Must admit though it is a little slower than normal tonight :(

What *is* certain is that Hotmail is *extremely* put out by the excellence of GMail and therefore nothing can be put past them.

I had reservations at first but then I tried it, and it's amazing..

I had my first 'targetted adverts' added to an incoming mail today, and they are simply not intrusive at all.

SOme extra facilities in Gmail would be handy I.E. tha ability to create extra folders for moving mail into.

The idea is that you don't sort them manually, you just dump everything in an archive and use the search facility to find the message you're looking for.

Instead of this, you create "labels" then this helps when searching later like Towny said. :)

yeah, it requires a bit of a different mindset, having labels instead of folders, but the ability to have multiple labels per message is appealing and is something you can't really do with folders.

I know some people who have had difficulty even accessing their G-mail Account.

I guess thats why they call it beta..

Yep sometimes the server lags a bit but for a BETA service its not doing too badly :)
I've only failled to access Gmail twice so far and that was at a peak time period so I can't grumble really :)

Nah - im talking about permanently - as in NO access because it screws up.

If you send e-mails to the account you just get delivery delay failures until it times out.

Well....... that would entail me going through my IE history and finding all the links to the forums i visited over the past couple of days....... and while i like you........ i don't like you THAT much :p: ;)

Looks like i must like you more than i thought ;)

Ok....... a couple of links that show that i'm not the only person having problems accessing my account..... strangely enough i can log in to change my password and details........ but if i try to get to my email account the page tries to refer me on........ and then times out or says that the page isn't available :shrug:
I've tried all the cookie and temp page flushing.... changing privacy settings etc in IE and ZA.... allowing google.com etc..... using different browser - Firefox......... REBOOTING for god's sake!!!!!

Nothing..... and Theblueraja even tried to access my account from his pc in Hove but he had the same problem.....

Luckily, i have many an email address to use and so can wait..... for Beta to become Omega ;)

I must have a special lucky internet connection or something, I've been able to access it every time I tried, unfortunately I'm moving house in a month or so and will be going back to NTL *grimace* I wouldn't gamble on my success rate then.

Think it's just the luck of the draw as far as gmail's concerned...... i set up an account....... sent out a few emails...... but everyone that's replied has told me that they're getting bounced back mails saying that the delivery is pending and should occur in due course....... :zzz:

Well even if they DO reply............. I'LL NEVER KNOW!!! :D

Oh and this is me caring right at this moment...... :dozey:

All I can say is that I've only ever had about 1 day when it wasn't working, but other than that it's been fine.

I just noticed that my spam folder is full, no wonder I have not been seeing much email, thats an excellent feature.
The only thing is I still feel that I have to trawl through the spam folder to check if anything has been mistaken for spam that should not be.

Yea, i wish it would like tell you in barckets next to spam how much spam there is, as i missed an importnat emnail last week because i didnt relise there were any emails in it! :(

But ive had no problems accessing my G-Mail account it all seems to have been fine?! :)

well, it's all fine for me (except I couldn't get any address that reflects my name in any way shape or form, goodness knows how many townys and Chris Townsends there must already be on gmail :( )

I just sent myself a test message from gmail to my work addy, it was delivered in about 60 seconds.

Hmmmm ive noticed a few annoying things. Ive sent myself messeges from my hotmail addy and others that have just not turned up. Today I couldnt log in for a couple of hours as well !!

Nice link Metawraith, I picked up pop goes the gmail when I got my account and updated it again today, works very well and its easy to get it working with Outlook express etc. :)

It does not tell you next to the SPAM folder, however if you look at the labels list it does.

Well my spam gets a SPAM label & how many new spam posts are shown in bold.
