Broken NTL green box.

Spoke to my father today, there is an NTL green box outside his house on the street, well the local kids have pulled the whole covering off it and it is now exposed with wires sticking out. He has reported it to NTL via phone three times in the past with nothing being done about it and taped the cover on himself but now he has enough of spending money on rolls of tape, so I'm posting it here so that someone from NTL might be able to sort it out.

Box is on Goronwy Road, Townhill, Swansea.

Cheers.

SJ.

Hi,

Thanks for telling us - I'll get it passed on to the right people. Is there a reference number on what remains of the box? It'll probably look something like "WBC5065".

Cheers.

There's a box in a similar state here-ish:

Vandalised box

Between the junction of Runswick (not Brunswick) Street and Crosby Road and the junction of Crosby Street and Crosby Road. At the end of the row of terraces that is Runswick Street or Avenue. Can't remember which - all the houses and streets look pretty much the same around here :)

[edit] My signature says it but it's Leeds. LS11 - Holbeck :)

Have you phoned this in to your local faults office on 0800 052 2000? They're better placed to deal with this than I am - and the Leeds one is different to the Swansea one.

No - I just saw the thread and thought I'd mention it. The person(s) affected by the damage will no doubt be on the phone so there's no need for me to get involved - like said, just thought I'd mention it purely because the opportunity presented itself.

Don't worry, I'll get the details to the right people anyway! ;)

You shouldn't be wasting your own free time doing something Virgin should be paying you for =\

The one opposite my house has been loose and unlocked for a few years, seen numerous Virgin engineers there, all of which just chuck the cover back on and don't even lock it, i put the cover back on once before as Kids sometimes sit on it and had pulled it right off, i've reported it before but nothing has ever been done about it, guess they don't care about their network

Unfortunately the cabs are plastic and the locks are discarded, and most contractors and in house service can't be bothered to lock them with the removable lock.

Re: Broken NTL green box.

There's one on a retail park near me that's open almost constantly. Nynex box, not quite sure what the cab is doing there anyway. It just seems to have the strips for the telephone line connections but it has no coax or tv related equipment in it.

Any ideas what the box is or was for and how can we get Virgin to close it? As the doors are swinging into the footpath every other day.

I can get it closed if you say where it is

Thanks. Croft Retail Park, Bromborough. There's actually another one that's been open for months a few roads behind there-Dock Road South.

Anyone know why it has no TV section in it and no customers connected to it?

Possibly a business only cab. Or a booster cab.

Interesting, I didn't realise they had telephone only cabs.

Can you be a bit more specific about where they are? There are several cabinets in and around Croft Retail Park, and at least two on Dock Road South.

Trouble is the whole of the retail park is classed as Welton Rd. The cabinet on the retail park is on the little roundabout opposite the Odeon and at the side of Frankie and Benny's.

The one on Dock Road South is in Brombourough Pool village just past South View on the right.
