Slow browsing in Mansfield
 

Very slow browsing in Mansfield, has been for the last 2 weeks, changed my proxies several times but to no avail. ANy problems anywhere?

is it just browsing or d/l speed as well? pm me your postcode /mac address of modem and i will check for problems in your area

Mine is pants still, changed proxy to Bristol still as slow as hell.

The last couple of days connections here in Immingham have been really slow. I don't know much about the techy stuff but my 150k feels slower than dial-up at the moment. I've tried checking the connection speed with a couple of online tests and came back with 138k-ish but my IE v6 browser seems to be a lot slower than that. Does anyone know of any probs in DN40 area?

After finding that my other pc's connection is OK I suspect that the prob is with the computer rather than the connection. Though I am mega ****ed off about the second STB failure in two weeks but that's a different forum:( Bloody NTL, eh?

Hello, I was about to make a thread then I saw this thread maybe it is similiar to my problem, Well I have 600k NTL broadband and live in Oxford. I have Network on 4 computers. Well the internet has been reallyyyy slow like a dial up, I tried to use other computers on the network but the internet is slow. Sometimes if the internet is not working I unplug the cable modem and plug it again the internet will start working but still slow........

Those speeds are appalling - have you checked that you don't have any spyware, virues or P2P stuff running ? If you don't I would call TS - something clearly seems to be wrong.

You know after I post my first above the internet was really slow,I had dinner then I came back to use the computer... the internet was fast as it suppose to be..so I did the speed test again........

Seriously I did not change anything at all, all i did is left the computer on.

This happened before when internet is fast but its rarely...I bet tomorrow when I switch the computer on again the internet would be slow. Most of the time it is slow but not now.

No viruse on this computer, no P2P was running. I tried to remove spyware on mum's computer (this one). Though my computer does not have spyware at all but most of the time the internet is slow as my mum's computer (it is fast now though).

Thanks man, I just noticed the internet is slow when P2P (Shareaza) is running.

Suprisingly (well 4 me) if a P2P is running on 1 computer it would slow down internet on all computer which are on the network.

So now I wont able to run Shareaza again?

If you are maxing out your upload bandwidth then this will cause your download to fall drastically (due to the way tcp works). You need to limit the amount of bandwidth the P2P uses.

Mmmmm I had Shareaza for a long time since last year, I did not change the settings since then, my upload bandwidth is 350kb/s (Mode=average),

I thibk have same problem with this guy, I will read the thread if I can find anything.
