Dead serious young sir, it's installing as we speak :D
Althought I did sort out a system checkpoint beforehand just in case ;) |

WMP9 was missing a SPDIF option for DVDs to let me use 5.1 DTS/Dolby digital. WMP 8 & 9 only play back in stereo. EDIT: Nice one M$ - |

I run a legit version of XP that I bought, I have nothing to hide. The DRM for ripped tracks can be disabled in the options BTW. ;) WMP is the only M$ software that I actually like (apart from the OS but I don't have much choice about that, most game are released for it). :disturbd: |
Re: Windows Media Player 10
im not keen on wmp but it will hopefully get better in a few versions...

Re: Windows Media Player 10
So if it has loads of spyware but i have spywareblaster installed, will it still install the spyware or not?
|
Re: Windows Media Player 10
 i won't be having it... only for winXP... i guess even the win2k users are being left behind now as well!

Re: Windows Media Player 10
Just installed it, works perfectly, slight change to the full mode interface, haven't delved too deeply, plays DVD's flawlessly (with AC3 audio) but then so did WMP9. I haven't used winamp in ages, and will probably not go back to it.

Re: Windows Media Player 10
I found that it still doesn't play DVDs in surround sound, it must be my settings :(
Also, DVDs seem to have the brightness cranked up way too high so I'll continue using PowerDVD for now. Apart from that, it's a definite improvement. I like the new GUI, quality. :) |

Re: Windows Media Player 10
Same as you Bifta.
The LOTR DVDs are superb, the encoding is a little lame though because of the length of the films. If you're after the ultimate in DVD quality then you should try Superbit: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...390346-8418253 |

The thing that annoys me about DVD is the compression, the next thing to sort out is the crap resolution which looks rubbish on a 19" PC monitor. Thankfully, I've managed to start downloading HDTV shows over the net... ;) |

Bargain... EDIT: Sorted. :) Quote:

Re: Windows Media Player 10
Always check out play.com before amazon for single dvds (not box-sets). No postage either if you're just getting 1 dvd. ;)

Re: Windows Media Player 10
I could but that would be a "conflict of interest" with this being a family forum etc... ;)

Re: Windows Media Player 10
I've installed the Beta and I seem to have lost the ability to view info about the band/album currently playing.
Has anybody else experienced this? How do I get it back? |

Re: Windows Media Player 10
Yep, it is.
I don't mean that I can't download the titles and so on of CDs, I mean the infocentre view of Now Playing -- it just tells me "this feature is not available", even on CDs I *know* worked on WMP9. |
