yup :D :D :D

Just as a heads up, we have taken a hosting package with another company to be able to bring you

http://www.i-websolutions.info/

This monitors our server every 60 seconds. If any of our servers arent responding, this page will be able to tell you if its your connection or our server. (apparently :pp  )

I've just had a look at that - that will be very useful, although we shouldn't need to use it much ;)

I'd also like to say thanks to I-Web for the enhancement of the Cable Forum package, the extra mysql databases, especially. I had mentioned previously on the I-Web forum, that I was thinking of getting another one & KP personally advised me to wait as they had 'something in the pipeline' - having 5 available is more than I could of hoped for. Well done you guys :tu: :)

Stupid question coming....

I have 3 domains (lemarsh.co.uk, nhafc.co.uk & harehill.co.uk) all registered with another provider (firevision).

harehill currently points to my NTL webspace, lemarsh does not have webspace, only email (which firevision points to NTL (& O2 as backup)), and NHAFC is currently being designed, and was expected to be pointing to Blueyonder.

Do I need to transfer all 3 over to I-Web (and if so what is the costs on renewals). Also, can I have a sort of sub-domain (i.e. harehill at I-Web, and NHAFC poining to a sub-directory of harehill (form firevision), which would maintain the NHAFC look at the top.

Thanks for any help

Whats it cost for I-Web to arrange the domain name for packages 1-2 ?

And is the live support often offline like now?

Hi, You need to choose a package that has at least 2 addon domains, then all you need to do is login to your domain regtistrar, and point the domains to i-web's name servers,

ns1.i-webserver.co.uk
&
ns2.i-webserver.co.uk

The only charges you will incur for your domain names is from your registrar. Normally they wont charge you to change the nameservers. If you have any problems, we can transfer you to our registrar account.

With the addon domains, it means that you will have a directory inside your main hosting package that will serve the files for your addon domain. But it is completely masked, and therefore would appear like this

http://youraddondomain.com/forum/index.php

not http://youraddondomain.yourmaindomai...orum/index.php

Therefore it will make it look like a completely seperate account ;)

Transfers are charged at the same rate as domain registration, as you are also purchasing 1 years renewal at the same time.

The domain name charges are details in the signup process, if you choose to register a domain with us, the prices will be displayed for you.

The live support feature is a new function (as im sure everyone will tell you) that were working on. This should be fully operational in the next 7 days.

When you click the select button your taken to a screen where you choose your package, at the very top you have a domain option..... where you can transfer your domain (just ammend your nameserver records with your current registrar) or you can select the option that says
I want I-Web Solutions to register my domain, this is a new domain.

When you click continue you get a new page that allows you to type in your domain name with a drop down box, if you open the drop down box it displays all of the domains that we can register for you and there pricing. Bear in mind that all of the .uk domains are for 2 years, not 1 :)

Sorry KP to sound dim, but I am pretty new to the hosting lark etc....

I have 3 domains with 1&1 (no hosting), under two account numbers (2 orders at different times).

So, if I request a move, do I use the main one when setting up, then transfer over the other two afterwards ?

KingPhoenix 04-05-2004 18:00

Re: I-Web Solutions - May Day special

Yes you use a "main one" and then add the other 2 after,

However from experience with 1&1 you wont have any control over the domain names.......

Are they .uk domains or standard .com/.net etc?

let me know :)

Two are .me.uk
One is .biz

Is there a charge to transfer ??

Oh, and both are domain name only - pointing to my Pipex webspace............

KingPhoenix 05-05-2004 07:58

Re: I-Web Solutions - May Day special

OK i would recommend you setup an account with ukreg.com

your .uk will be free to transfer to them, but i think there .biz prices are high (cant honestly remember)

You will need to send 1&1 a signed fax tho before your able to move your .uk domains as you will need them to change the TAG on it...

Last time i used 1&1 they didnt offer the ability to change the name server settings for your domains. This may have changed and you may not need to move them at all.... but like i said, last time i used them this wasnt the case.

FWIW I would add my personal reccommendation to jump if you are hovering - having finally got my old hosting to forward the domain I am now having a play, and the range of features on I-web is awesome.

Whether I can utilise these to create something useful remains to be seen, lol, but certainly the product is there for those with a remote idea of what they are doing!

Interesting to get a comment from someone who has had experience of other hosts. I-Web are the only one I have tried & I have been more than pleased with the service provided. :)

- and I have to agree that the control panel options, especially the 'fantastico' script auto-installer, are brilliant. For a n00b like me the option to install all kinds of public domain stuff, like forums, content management portals, blogs, etc, with just a couple of clicks is very handy. :tu:

- I also have to say that the I-web team have been exceptionally friendly, efficient & communicative. So if anyone is thinking of 'dipping a toe in the water' to see what it is like to have a 'proper' hosted domain, rather than the html webspace offered by NTL etc, I would add my endorsement of I-Web Solutions, to Nikko's.

I agree :) I-web's stuff is very cool.. and I'm not being paid to say that! :)

I also am in the same position as Nikko here because, with an upgraded package, it means I have even MORE toys to play with.. I keep installing things with fantastico, fiddling with them, and then uninstalling them, lol!

perhaps there should be a section on this forum for i-web customers to talk about their new toys and make everyone else jealous ;)

is there like a standard banner ad that i-web have? my website may not be the busiest in the world, but i don't mind adding it to my 'links' page to spread the word, even to a few people :)

You dont have to be mad but it helps ;) ;)

Just have to echo Adam's response and say that this promo has been a huge success It is the comments by you the people that use our services that spur us on to improve the service even further and thankfully since we moved server to a new DC the problems we were having are few and far between.

Perhaps in the future we will be running more promo's :) :)

OK - so I've done it (with minutes to spare!).

Sorry, but another question.

Firevision ask the following questions...
New Name Servers (presume they are ns1.i-webserver.co.uk & 2).
Also, ask the IPS TAg. Any suggestions (am I transferring this?).

How does email get transferred?

So many questions for midnight!
thanks

Your not changing registrar just host :)

So the only thing that needs changing are the nameserver settings, and yes ns1 &ns2 :)

I'm already with them on the old NTHW Package 5 for my personal site.
Now though, I'm considering buying a package I can put a domain or two onto to use as general purpose business-related hosting.
Even without the 20% discount - 99p a month is still cheap!

I have signed up too now, albiet without the extra 20% discount, given that I'm paying 99p a month I think its excellent.

It took mere minutes instead of the couple of hours & not working with EUKhost last night.

I just have to wait for things to propogate through the system & I should be able to access my site, then have a play with my own www pages etc.
Wheeeeeeeee!
