Forum that needs testing

http://www.freetechelp.net/phpBB2/

This new forum has just opened. However before we start to accept a lot of new users we need testers. Can people please join and use it like a ordinary forum?

Alanmelon 26-04-2004 19:51

Re: Forum that needs testing

Well, for starters, the orange title in the blue bar doesn't look right - "Welcome to Fretechelp Gamers Division"?

testing testing 123...

there is a problem with the toplist- parse error

having the IM options appearing at the top is a bit annoying seeing as they are disabled.

i hope i win the lottery though :D

Russ 26-04-2004 20:05

Re: Forum that needs testing

You need to lose 90% of those options in the centre of the front page - as another phpbb owner I can assure you virtually nobody will be interested in most of what's there....

Re: Forum that needs testing

I think there's far to many forums for you to be starting out with too. It make's it look to emtpy. I'd merge some to begin with but thats just me

Damien 26-04-2004 20:10

Re: Forum that needs testing

I will lose most of that other than games, lottery and shop etc etc

All this things will be fixed but we need members to get a basic forum going otherwise kapuut

Russ 26-04-2004 20:12

Re: Forum that needs testing

So basically you're spamming your site then???? :D

Damien 26-04-2004 20:18

Re: Forum that needs testing

no...i am err.....providing a..umm...service to the community...yeah that'll do

Russ 26-04-2004 20:19

Re: Forum that needs testing

OK so you're spamming. And which CF team member did you seek permission from to do this?

Matuka 26-04-2004 20:48

Re: Forum that needs testing

So why has no-one said "oh no, not another one... and its so original" ??

I have a strong feeling your web hosts, rather than the CF team. See here : http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=11581

Could be an interesting conflict of interest

Re: Forum that needs testing

He asked me *before* he posted :)

Defiant 26-04-2004 21:18

Re: Forum that needs testing

Well I think you should get the members you wont. A dedicated UK forum for dedicated gamers etc. Go for it before you know it, it will be kicking ;)

I do not see the conflict myself
i asked Russ if i could post that thread asking for admins to take over a forum once done i handed over forum to that person with instructions that he was in full controll of it and i am only admin to fix any bugs or make updates to site but in the everyday running of the forum is entirely in that persons hands.
Russs could very easily have said no and i would have respected that decision ;)
Hope this clears this up a little

Fair enough. :)

So I got the wrong end of the stick :( It wasn't apparent to me that permission had been sought and obtained. In fact Russ's post to which I had first quoted, in the way that I read it, implied permission had not been sought. In my own funny little way, I was hoping to see some entertainment, but never mind I'm going to be dissappointed. :dig:

/Slinks off into a corner :Sprint:

Whats specsavers got to do with any of this thread

Alanmelon 27-04-2004 18:47

Re: Forum that needs testing

I think it was a reference to a repeated observation, presumably as a result of not seeing too well. Although from what I've heard, going to Specsavers would probably not help matters in that area.... ;)

Re: Forum that needs testing
