Euronews

Is Euronews coming to ntl?

Sky digital subscribers have had the channel for more than a year now, does anybody know if this channel will be coming to ntl?

Don't get Euronews confused with Eurosport news. I've never seen Euronews on ntl.

Yes, we used to have it on the Videotron analogue platform, too. If I remember it used to be on the same channel as The Parliamentary Channel (now BBC Parliament) and Multicultural Television (some cheap VHS style thing that was on at the weekends and now seems to have formed into The Local Channel!)

Does anyone know if Euronews has gone 24 hours yet as I remember they only used to be on from 6am-1am or something like that.

Firstly, to describe ownership of the list, you should have used the word "their".

Secondly, I think Sky News, BBC News 24, ITV News, Bloomberg and CNN International are already a pretty comprehensive line up of news services for people of a European background. To suggest that another should somehow take priority over channels dedicated to serving the large community of people in this country of an Asian background seems absurd.

Thirdly, if ntl do have a "list", as you suggest, there would be no reason for subscription only Asian services to come into it at all.

1st: Well thought the rumour was there's a shortage space on the platform so why put Asian stations on ahead of European one's.

2nd: The "large community" as you call it is now living in europe. Perhap's you should check a map;)

Defiant, I find you rather offensive.

If you find a view and fact offensive you should perhaps have a good think about message boards:Sprint:

I found this http://www.southasian.org.uk/researc...port_app1.html which shows that there were 1.5M people of South Asian origin living in Britain in 1991. I would call this a large community, and is surely higher now.

I'm sure a large proportion of these people still have family living somewhere in Asia. Is it therefore not acceptable to you that these people should be able to get detailed news not only of Europe, but also Asia where their families live?

Imagine if you joined the ex-pat community in Australia, but the local cable company decided to drop BBC World in favour of a sixth 24-hour Australian news station of very poor quality.

Re: Euronews

Euronews used to broadcast during The Parliamentary Channel downtime on analogue cable (inc Bell/CWC). It was on air between 5am and 1am but only the final hour of Euronews was shown when Parliamentary was on air but you got the full service during the summer recess.

I would like to see Euronews added to ntl as ntl has the poorest selection of news channels. TW has Euronews and Sky also has Fox News and that cuniese news channel (plus EN of course). Don't hold your breath tho.

Re: Euronews

I don't expect anyone is still monitoring this thread. NTL was putting out Euronews until News24 became available (1998?) when they promptly dropped it. Whilst I am a great fan of the BBC output, I find their News output very parochial. I was a keen watcher of Euronews which had a refreshingly different take. I complained to NTL at the time, but I don't think the girl at the other end knew what I was talking about. Perhaps I ought to have another go.

Try filling in this Channel Numbering Survey originally found at ntlworld. At the end is a question asking what channels you'd like to see added to the service.

:welcome: to Cable Forum, by the way!

Welcome to the forum Foggy.

I recently discovered that Euronews is actually available on ntl, but it is only on before 6am every day on my local channel , 'channel 'M' (Manchester Channel). I don't know where you live but if you have a local channel like this you might aswell check. :)

It would be good to have Euronews. It is on both Sky and Telewest already.

Re: Euronews

With all the news channels we already have I am interested why people want this one Is it a lot better than the others?

Just interested

Re: Euronews

From what I recall of Euronews, it is very different in feel as it doens't have on-screen prsenters so you could say it isn't a typical news channel.

I'd also like to see MSNBC and CNN/US but I won't hold my breath.
