That is what I am hoping for as testing can be random, take today's test for example a McLaren came top!

2 snippets of news from the last few days.
Paddy Lowe leaves the Williams teams after its disastrous start to testing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/47476566 F1 to award points for fastest lap in a Grand prix as long as they finish in the top 10, this is a good idea in my opinion. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/47497979 |
Re: F1 2019 Season Thread
Sounds it, but effectively it will be a bonus point for the people on the podium. I am happy to be proved wrong during the course of the season though.

Shocking news for F1.
Charlie Whiting F1 Racing Director has died this morning in Australia where he was due to oversee the first race of the 2019 season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/47564762 |

Chaos at Azerbaijan GP practice.
The Williams car has hit a loose manhole cover causing alot of damage to the underside of the car and turning off the engine. The rescue truck then crashes into the bridge! The session has now been cancelled and all 300 manhole covers will be checked. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/formula1/48053970 |

A unanimous decision by the stewards. They get to see what Joe public doesn’t. Apparently the clincher was the steering telemetry from Vettels car, ie he either turned right or made no attempt to turn left.

Yet another terrible crash, this time Formula 3 at Monza 2019, reports say the driver Alex Peroni walked away from this and i am not sure how as it looks like it could have easily been another fatality a week after Antoine Hubert died, and not to be forgotten Formula 2 driver Juan Manuel Correa is still critical in an induced coma.
|
Re: F1 2019 Season Thread
Apparently Alex Peroni has a broken vertebra.
|
Re: F1 2019 Season Thread
That would have been a fatal a few years back

Re: F1 2019 Season Thread
Cracking advert as to why tracks and especially street circuits with poor run offs should be removed from the calendar. What a dismal race. 3 safety cars in less than 5 laps of racing.
Vettel essentially being handed a win before he throws his toys out. Shame really because Leclerc right now looks better in every single way. |

The only racing today was right in the middle of the pack. As above, Vettel getting the gap over Leclerc really put the cherry on the cake for this absolute pile of crap. People like Leclerc and Verstappen are the only ones at the front creating any sort of excitement. Hamilton has his moments but Bottas just falls apart as the season drags on and Vettel crumbles under the slightest bit of pressure until you literally hand him a win. |

Re: F1 2019 Season Thread
Leclerc and Veratappen are hungry for it. They're where the future lies. Vettel and Hamilton are so used to winning they literally coast along nowadays playing with team strategies. Its been far more detrimental to Vettel than Hamilton. Hamilton can have his day where he really pushes but I'd like to see him in a Red Bull pushing it to it's limit.
The problem for Leclerc and Veratappen is you eventually become the Hamilton and Vettel. Look at Lewis at McClaren and the early days of Merc dominance. |
Re: F1 2019 Season Thread

Verstappen up to now has made quite a few tactical errors during his thus so far driving carrer and needs to cut them out if he is ever going to go all the way plus he needs to cut out his inmaturity at times. Vettel has won 4 titles for a reason and Hamilton is moving closer to his sixth because currently he is a best all round driver then the other drivers thus it does help if one has a decent team behind you which he has. |
Re: F1 2019 Season Thread
Reverse the grids. Force them to overtake. I think the FIA and Liberty need to really consider this rather than leave it as rumour. Make them race.
Hamilton and Vettel can whinge about it all they want. It's a spectator sport. We've got the new owners to change it up. We've had far too long a period of the same teams receiving massive amounts of money and thus staying right at the top of the development chain, the money needs to be shifted about more. There's no Arab billionaires coming in to fund a new team here and the new teams that do come in go bust in a few years because they're achieving nothing. |

Re: F1 2019 Season Thread
All teams had investment then though. Tobacco sponsorship was massive. We need to change something to allow the teams outside the top 6 to develop better cars. If that means a few seasons of reversed grids so back markers and midfielders score points and pick up podiums then we should go for it. Then you can revert back to the original format and hopefully the shift in finances will have allowed teams to catch up slightly or be on par.
But what will actually happen is Ferrari will threaten to quit. Mercedes will threaten to quit. |

Fuelling needs to come back, make it so teams dont know what strategies each other are using. Apart from that we are moving in the right direction with some cracking races we've just had. The first track that needs to go is Monaco but that will never happen.
