Sky Atlantic programming is on BFBS, anyone who really wants to watch SA could consider joining up :D

I thought I had read that the credit card thing was a blip and had been sorted out, but I may be getting confused with something else

What time did the channels unencrypt? I'm wondering if they were unencrypted and scrambled again early due to VM technical limitations.

Nope issue is still there regarding cards from outside nordic region tried once with my visa debit and again with my virtual usa mastercard.

I've posted something about this in the Netflix/streaming services thread, so as not to take this thread too much off topic.

I'm assuming at around 6am. I had checked at around 5.45am and they were still encrypted but had to go out before 6am.

Sorry why did VM do that then, I thought it was 6am to 6am?

It should have been:

https://my.virginmedia.com/customer-...-day-2014.html

"Reserve the best spot on the sofa for Sky Sports Open Day and get ready for a day of sporting action to remember. It’s a chance for all Virgin Media TV customers to enjoy a day of world-class sport at no extra cost.

From 6am on Saturday 16th August until 6am on Sunday 17th August even if you don't have a Sky Sports subscription, you could watch all the sporting action across Sky Sports 1 – 5 & F1. Also available to all in HD."

I understood fully what you said, thanks for asking though. It is okay for you and others to like some content on SA and dislike other contnet. Yup, I get that. I have no problem with that answer.

When I said the channel was over-rated, that was due to me only being impressed with one show I have seen on it. I have also seen many trailers for many shows and they have not interested me either. The premise for Penny Dreadful is ludicrous if you ask me.

You do not like all of the content, even though others will like the content you do not. Others will not like the content you do. All perfectly acceptable.

So why is it wrong for me to say the channel is over-rated, when I do not like or care for most of its content?

I got now tv just to watch Game of Thrones, for me the channel offers little else of interest, i am not as bothered about getting it as I was, it ain't all that!, just my opinion.

Because you're looking at it from a narrow viewpoint; your view only and ignoring the wider critical analysis.

There are several shows that are widely acknowledged to be excellent, but they don't appeal to me. I don't say they are over-rated, just because I don't like them. Because they have overwhelming positive reviews, I trust that they are good but they just aren't my cup of tea. So a TV channel that shows such shows is a good one; it just isn't one that appeals to me. I don't go calling it over-rated, because it clearly isn't if it's showing a bunch of highly regarded shows. I don't like sports, but it would be clearly ridiculous to call the sky sports channels over-rated, just because I don't have any interest in sports!

Personally I look at the wider picture, not just my own personal preferences, when assessing whether a channel is 'over-rated'.

Fair enough PB, I see your point. For the money spent, the hype around it and the amount of repeats on the channel I still see SA as over-rated though.
I will still use my own opinion to make a decision and not really rely on the general consensus of critical analysis though. I will give you a couple of examples why:
The 50 Shades of Grey trilogy of books has a 4 star rating on Amazon, the five Twilight books receive 4.5 stars, The Hunger Games trilogy scores 4.5 stars. If someone was to try and sell me these as great pieces of literature, I would (a) fall about laughing and (b) call that package over-rated too. Equally, the box sets of the film adaptations of Hunger Games and Twilight both have over 4 stars reviews on amazon. If all these films launched as the blockbuster highlights on a new all singing, all dancing, exclusive film channel, I would call that film channel over-rated as well.

You're confusing 'Over-rated' with 'Doesn't appeal to me'.

Now that I know your definition of over-rated, I am able judge your posts on such matters accordingly.

Thanks for that, annoyed not to see the end of the big fight, thinking about how can I watch the end of this fight dodgy live feeds (that I don't normally do) or radio commentary even for a split second thought of subscribing to Sky Sports for the month.

Looks like well done VM in c....g up this SKY Sports day pass for some of us :(

Could do but I am happy with the boxing on Boxnation, it was just the fact that I was looking forward to this fight and it was advertised as being free to all VM customers on this day pass and for no reason why it seems VM cut the Free to view access at 3:45am in the morning:confused:

If there was any doubt of it ending a couple of hours early, then VM should have said so. Media Boy had his suspicions that it would end prematurely and he was proved right.
