Interestingly, the whole of the liberty board are in the uk at the moment?

If nothing happens bud it's people walking that's needed for them to wake up,as for liberty board in the uk they had better get off there arses and do something.this next week is gonna show what liberty are made of,bt are getting digs in with advertising and now are sky whilst yet again vm stay quiet.Maybe different owners but the old same problem remains COMUNICATION to customers none existent,Don't know if this is significant but I am still awaiting a reply from universal hd owners.could be there sick of my monthly emails or dare I say we could be close to finally seeing it.
Benmcr where are you bud I no you probably can't say much but we could do with something mate :(

This time next week BT Sports will either be on the Virgin EPG, or it won't be on the EPG. Not too long to wait now. Just to think, it was June last year when BT landed the rights.

Must admit it doesn't look great. BT are offering BT Sports for free. SKY are prepared to cover the cost of BT Sports for a full year for you if you move from Virgin to SKY. Virgin will need to come out fighting in the next week.

In their defence they can't really say anything other than "in negotiation" until there's a deal. Anything otherwise would fundamentally be misleading to customers and investors.

True, however as you can see the uncertainty plays into BTs hands at this stage therefore an early deal was never on the cards.

While this appears a massive issue on Internet forums the evidence from Setanta is this will be important to a tiny number of Virgin subscribers - maybe 200 000. Far less than Sky targeted in the Sky Basics dispute and we all know how "successful" that ended up.

They have known for 12 months? I'm pretty sure the first we heard about BT launching sports channels was January/February time?

Sky trying to nab customers before VM announce it will be free in XL:) Sky and BT just doing what Bomber said, stopping VM announcing they are getting BT sports before a certain date so they can both target VM customers:)

Agreed. If Sky were so sure Virgin weren't getting it, then they wouldn't need to do an offer to pay for a years free BT Sport would they. The customers who wanted BT Sport would come anyway and pay the £15 a month willfully. They are simply taking advantage off the Virgin customer uncertainty because of the embargo period imo.

Quite alot of people will look abit silly having switched so soon imo.

Sky's deal is them trying to save broadband customers instead of them going to BT BB for the 'free' sport.

Almost everything I watch is recorded, and I skip through the adverts. There hasn't been anything worthwhile watching on ESPN for a month or so either. I think you'd all be very surprised about how few people even realise anything is happening! I have little doubt that Virgin could hold off any action until just before the start of the season and still see minimal impact on subscriber numbers. We mustn't fall in to the trap of thinking that those of us interested enough to spend our time on Cableforum are representative of the majority of Virgin's customer base - I'm quite convinced we're not!
