And there in lies the problem, anybody who is seriously interested in 4k is going to want to watch sports and movies, I've watched TV series like House Of Cards in streamed 4k and it isnt worth getting excited about yet the canal+ demo loop channel on satellite shows a mix of sport, movies and drama and yes it looks stunning.

If so, it stands to reason that we will have 4K content, just maybe not courtesy of Sky.

Well I think the next gen TiVo will have 4K, but due to lack of 4K unless we get Sky 4K movies and sports, they can't make that the number one feature

I think they may have to start striking deals now with other providers eg Discovery, ITV etc.

Their 3D content was mainly VOD, so maybe this will be the same approach for 4k??

I'm unable to find any rumours about a itv 4K channel

Yes, no rumours, this was just an example broadcaster that VM may wish to collaborate with for 4K content. LGI, VM's owner, does own a 10% stake in ITV.

Also I think from the next statement realistically we are stuck with the old TiVo till 2017 now " At the turn of the year it will launch a new set-top box to rival Sky Q, with ultra-high-definition pictures and a similar ability to sling programmes to tablets and smartphones around the home." because as this interview was April this year that must mean next year.

So we get a new TiVo in 2017 and learn the new system but then around the corner " Beyond that, there will be a major overhaul of the ageing plumbing that powers Virgin Media’s broadcasting, to allow it to shift to Liberty Global’s next generation distribution system, Horizon, which is already in use elsewhere in Europe" instead of pumping up broadband speeds, why not have started this in time for the new TiVo in 2017

Media boy as this news has come from high up in virgin media can you confirm or deny the software updates are now starting this week and about the delayed TiVo for 2017

Don't know the only reason I noticed the article was they were on about business on BBC Breakfast and this was at the side of the article they were showing in the paper

At least we know the new TiVo is not coming this year now just new software in a clunky box
