Well, according to the ADSLGuide speed test, my upload is > 500K, so looks like I've been upgraded, but download is c. 2.8MB - about what it was before. When I can be bothered, will take my 'b' wireless router out of the equation, and see if that makes any differebce.

You're at your limited with 802.11b.. it'll never manage 10Mbps. Do try. :)

I'm well aware of that, but, given the STB will only do 5MB, according to NTL, I didn't think there was much point upgrading to g. I certainly didn't/don't expect wireless b to limit me to 3MB, though:disturbd:

I forget the exact specs, but you would need 'g' to get 10Mbps. :)

Unless you have a very good signal lock, wireless (11b) will generally run at 2/3 mbps max.

That could be the problem, then, though the systray icon does say speed 11MB, connection good. Will try without the router this evening. I was originally going to upgrade to 11g to get the 10MB, but thought I could save some money if NTL are only offering 5MB for the price of 10 (or a £50 upgrade fee).

Does seem ever so slightly faster this morning (3.0x MB, rather than 2.9x!)

Just rebooted the Samsung, and got the new config file.

Tests show that it doesn't achieve anywhere near 5Mb, and it ocassionally peaks at 450kB/s but fluctuates back to normal 3Mb download levels, although upload seems to be 500k now.

I've registered with the ww.ntlworld.com/stb page, so just waiting for a call now to arrange a SACM

i have a Q thats probably been asked before but...

Are NTL going to upgrade the modems for those of us currently using a Terajet modem? I believe these only have a 10mbit ethernet port, that restricts us from achieving full use of the 10mbit service ?

Thnx in advance.

BTW - we have been informed today that all STB customers on 3 meg should have had their configs updated for the 10 meg service last night (a re-boot may be necessary). This doesn't change the fact that they may not physically get the full 10 meg download, but they should get the full 512K upload.

Ok I thought the 3 tier system for 10meg was scrapped, I misread then.

at last, been on 10meg for awhile now but only getting 600kbps max even with latest firmware for my NTL 120 home cable modem, but saw NTL van out in street today working on local cab and when got back my speed is now full 1100/1200kbps. So now again i have double my speed, lol

Unless NTL are taking the p..s - always possible - the Samsung should, if there is no router in the way, achieve at least 5MB. If you are only getting 3MB through the STB, odds are this is a problem with the NTL network, and you won't get any better through a SACM.

I had 2 mbps on the Samsung. My girlfriend phoned up and asked for 3 mbps, and that is what i have 360 down 35 up.I thought that the STB`s were all upto 10 mbps now.

What is the new config called on the Samsungs.I wen`t into the engineering mode on my Samsung, and it said STB.HIGH.CM.Is there a way to see the config file, without going into the engineering mode?

See post 1438. Sounds like you need a reboot to pick up the new config. According to NTL, though, you'll only get 'up to 5MB'. £50 to upgrade to 10MB (by getting a stand-alone modem).

Did you leave the STB off for c. one minute before powering back on? Only thing I can suggest, otherwise may be a call to NTL.
