Look each to their own preferences as one man's meat is another man's poison as they say.:)

The upload is important to me and I get 7.8Mbs, the best I ever got with VM was 1.75Mb which constantly dropped to 512Kb (I assume throttling) typically I only ever uploaded a build DVD to work.

Years ago VM was the best in many respects, VOD was second to none. It isn't any more, Sky's VOD is really extensive and current. Now VM are putting up prices by 5.5% I think I've made the correct choice in moving to Sky:)

I'm now paying £20 a month less for a better service.

Have to agree i had nothing but buffering issues on VMs so called 100mb, i switched to a 38mb bt service and have no buffering at all and i'm paying a lot less.
VM really need to brush up.

Apart from the occasional blip it still beats the vast majority of the opposition hands down in my humble unbiased opinion.

I'm not knocking the TIVO, Den. It's brilliant, just a big sluggish sometimes.

Just seen this to confirm everyone's fears/expectations

http://www.engadget.com/2015/11/11/v...rice-increase/

Virgin Media customers who are signed up to one of the company's "Big Bundles" will soon see their monthly bill get an inflation-busting price increase. The cable provider says "the vast majority" of subscribers will see their packages rise by up to 5.4 percent (between £3.49 and £3.99 a month), which will include a £1 line rental increase. The changes won't happen right away -- they'll come into effect next February.

Ofcourse they will mate, it's getting ridicolous now the cost of line rental alone.

I don't know how they can justify such a high line rental fee when most people use their mobiles

It's a rental fee, not usage fee. Providing the line and associated exchange equipment costs the same whether or not you use it.

Cheers Spider, That was the channel. Good it was.

PLEASE. SOMEONE tell me how VM can justify a further increase. Its totally wrong.
What new channels have they brought onto the system.

Only recently we found out that they are losing a large amount of customers, who are going to BT or Sky.

I am trying to persuade my wife to join Sky. The thing that will annoy my wife is if they take off the History channel - like they have done before, with various channels.
Or they move channels

Too much now. I'm seriously debating leaving vm. I don't want to but they seem hell bent on forcing people out. Desperately trying to increase profit for a quick sell.

We"re not getting anything new so I don't know how they can justify this? Other than greed

"How can we justify a price increase?"
"Line rental?"
"Ha do we dare do that? People hate line rental and it doesn't cost us anything!"
"Ha yeah let's do it."
"Ya mad you"

Some people also need landlines to call for help with those devices that people put round their neck.

I wonder if there's a required amount of time for channels to test off the EPG (like Sky)?

If there is, it's not looking promising.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 2

Not sure if this might be relevant considering the proposed VM price rise. Sky are being honest with regards pricing, but are at least making a point about the price rises being worthwhile. As much as I still dislike Sky, I have had a faultless TV service from them - considerably better than my last experience with them.

I wonder how much potential future content will be made available for other providers.
