Yes, you might be right.

However, if not, Sky would still be able to boast that the Sky Atlantic channel was available exclusively on Sky and Now TV while at the same time allowing VM to pick up the same content as BT (through Now TV) on their on demand system.

I read on DS that the Sky/BT deal may not be implemented in time for the football season and may not do so until 2020. If that is the case (and I have to say that I have no independent evidence of this) it may explain why both companies are being cagey about the content that we will get on demand, because they may want to implement these arrangements on BT and VM at the same time.

As usual, I guess we will just have to wait and see.

If it was part of the deal they’d have actually said that.

Virgin customers will, for the VERY FIRST TIME, have access to Sky Atlantic content including THE HIGHEST RATING PROGRAMME OF ALL TIME ON IMDB - Chernobyl...

It wouldn't be “delving deeper into back catalogues” if it was SA content.

Unless Sky don't wish this to be revealed at this stage.

Why though? If it’s to make Sky more appealing there’s an easier way to achieve that: Not sell SA content to Virgin.

Sky have openly admitted they need more eyes on sky Atlantic for advert revenue etc. I’d imagine virgin media will get the now tv app. But if you were sky would you announce it yet or instead wait until next year then the deal kicks in? More time to use the precious “sky exclusive” tag and try to entice virgin media customers over in the next 5+ months

I’m not being deliberately difficult but can you link me to Sky saying that?

The very fact that Sky and Virgin have just renewed it's deal for Sky's portfolio of linear channels and On Demand suggests Now TV is very unlikely to appear. As jfman has pointed out had Virgin struck a deal for Sky Atlantic it would have dominated the headline and press release.

SKY Atlantic is not arriving on VM in any shape or form with this new agreement.

You cannot say that we will never get Atlantic, no one knows what will happen in the future!

I think eventually VM will get it maybe in 3 years time by then knowing SKY they'll launch a new channel called SKYHBO
oops said to much you didn't see that ;)

Had you actually said too much you’d have edited it out the post for fear of your employer taking action.

There’s nothing worse on an internet forum than someone pretending to be “in the know” when they obviously aren’t.

I can't see that happening. WarnerMedia will likely launch HBO Max outside the US soon enough and the value of a 3rd Party running a channel on their behalf won't be particularly appealing if they want to make a success of HBO Max.

I think it was in the original launch specificiation and nothing has really changed except Now tv a cheaper way to get Sky. Sky and VM tweet people who are trying to find out how to get the channel they are quickly saying "only through sky or now tv". Its in pretty much every google search for sky atlantic.

So in principle if the only way you can get sky atlantic is through Sky or Now tv you wouldnt announce thats going to change until launch day surely?

I dont think VM will get the channel mind you but i think they may get the Now tv app
