To be honest I think the only way we can solve this problem is for an administrator/moderator to do the list. They've made moves to try and discourage him by starting this thread. I hope they'll go further.

On other forums (forai?) they make the initial post in the new thread with the current list. Then because they are administrators, they can edit the first post at any time to keep it up to date. We know where to get the latest list if we want to, the flow of the discussion is uninterrupted and the thread doesn't look like someone's constantly taking a dump in it. :D

Oh, and as for the general literacy standards... :welcome:

Why? MB is the one with the detailed information and is very knowledgeable in this area. I truly value the information he provides and appreciate it. Do the 'administrator/moderators' have all this information? I suspect not.

All we are talking about here is the weekly update and how it is presented. MB's valuable contribution to the thread is not what this is about.

+1. If you don't wanna read, scroll through or block him. Easy peasy. May he continue for as long as he wants.

I've suggested this before, but why not just list any changes and also add a link to the full list?

Sounds like a great idea as Media Boy's site would get more hits too, so everyone's a winner :) Other suggestions would be a full-posting on the 1st of each month and updates as they happen with links to the blog. But I guess we all have our own opinions on this subject and none is necessarily right or wrong.

One a month would be an obvious improvement. I'd take that as a start. :D

Those who are moaning well here's the thread if you can do any better. End of the day MB has been doing it this way for years so lay off him, especially when you don't post any news/rumours yourselves.
Passinbats link idea is a very good idea though.

Edit - have had a rumour today FOX+24 may launch at somepoint this year on both VM and Sky.

Edit2 - sorry not with it today got a eye infection anyway i noticed on my ps3 today that Vms broadband is showing in the what's new section, might not mean anything but you never know.

Great work by Media Boy but maybe weekly is a bit too frequent for such summaries, given that it's quite slow at the moment?

A) I was removing all the Sky Movies Oscars info from list.
B) I was adding all the new info on BBC Three to be axe.
C) Need to repost full list for my 'Virgin/Smallworld' link.

Passinbats link idea is a very good idea though.

Those of us that are moaning (as you put it) ARE trying to make the thread better. If you think Passingbat's idea is a good one. You think things are wrong at the moment too. :)

This is a good case in question. If an administrator/moderator looked at that, they could make a judgement on it's provenance, trustworthiness etc and decide if to update the list or not. Is a rumour about an as yet unannounced plus 24 channel launching sometime in the next 12 months a rumour worth listing? I don't know. For me it's not, but for others it might be. Let the administrator decide.[/QUOTE]

That's what they said. It contained no news.

You don't have to explain to anyone why you've posted Media Boy. Nobody does. Just carry on doing what you do mate.

How can a person (administrator/moderator) who has not received the rumour "make a judgement on it's provenance, trustworthiness etc."?

Only the person who has received the rumour and therefore knows it's source, can do that.

They will have received the rumour, it will have been posted here by Me, you, Media Boy, theone2k or someone else. Over time (they already are) the arbitrator will learn to judge who is worth listening to and those that aren't. They'll also be able to judge which rumours are just 'vanity posts' by those that wish to self publicise.

I'm not suggesting that rumour posts shouldn't be posted on the rumour thread. Just that it could be improved by a more useful summary rather than these continual garbage dumps. Perhaps there are other ways. Mine is only a suggestion that I've seen working well on other forums.

The thread is ok as it is i like MBs regulare updates personally as i use it to cross compare with info i have, i get quite a lot of info and rumours given to me from various sources and MBs regular list help me work out the likely from the unlikely if that makes any sense? lol.
As for the forum staff verifying info, if they're not getting the information or have any sources then they can't verify it.
This thread has always been speculation and information. For those wanting concrete launches there is a chanlog which could do with being made into a sticky thread imo to make it easier to find.
FOX24 is a new rumour so yes it is worth posting as this is what this thread is for.
Let's all just enjoy the speculation and rumours and look forward to the goodies coming our way in 2014 one thing i do know and am 99% confident is happening is LG are going to concentrate highly on on demand services, don't expect too many linar channel launches but expect the OD content/services to increase a lot.
