So why do carrot sales increase by 60% when it snows? Surely snowmen can't be that popular...

Warming winter soups/stews are being made all over the country. On Tuesday we prepared what seemed to be about 5 gallons of chicken soup... :)

Dear drivers coming down a hill - please use some common sense.

It is a lot easier for you to pull over and then set off again (gravity being your friend) than it is for the poor barstewards who are trying to get up the hill - if they have to pull over and stop, much difficulty ensues......

But what if theres ice on the roads and they cannot stop? You're both doomed :D

Some views of Loch Lomond taken over the past few days. Its sheltered and shallow bays are now beginning to freeze solid. I went for a bracing walk on the ice this morning, as you can see from some of these!

so i was off ill yesterday with the flu. Woke up today in South London, not feeling great but thinking with the conditions I should head into the office. Got in ok and find out that I am the only one who bothered to turn up apart from the gilr who is a ten minute walk away. The others who are close or can tube it aren't anywhere to be seen

For a moment there I thought you had taken a picture of some weird Scottish Winter ritual where you spear a frozen chicken.

Great Photographs Chris. I envy you your location, though I am sure it can have it's drawbacks on the very odd occasion having so much beautiful scenery on your doorstep must be wonderful.

Cars still stuck :( -6 when I got up just before 9 this morning. Just trudged over to Tesco to see if they had some salt (they didn't) and with the wind it must feel like -10 or so. Off work for another day & I cant see things improving for tomorrow either. I may walk to Asda later (not on bus route) to see if they have any salt there.
