CMJ and Tony Greig both dead within days of eachother.
I recall watching Greig as a lad and much admired his fighting spirit even though his words sometimes came back to haunt him. I was at the 1976 Oval test match during which Greig was England captain and Michael Holding was truly supreme as he perfected the art of 'whispering death'... As for CMJ, well he was one of the true voices of test match cricket in the UK and will be sorely missed by those who love the use of language he brought to the commentary. RIP both. |
