Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
I think you will be given the option - stay on a 1mb or 2mb unlimited tier or opt to go 'limited' but with 10mb.

Yes thats what I ment the LAN port. The modem is standard DOCSIS and so should be able to do what any other DOCSIS modem can do. The problem is the boxes CPU can't handle both digital tv and internet balls to the wall. :D

The Samsung box has 2 CPUs

I suppose it make sense doing it this way, as a lot of 10meg users would drop from £35 to £25 and take the hit on gigs. |

If the port gets locked to 10M there is no way it will give a throughput of 10M. |

*ALL* ntl 10Mb Discussion (Part 3)
I rang the tech/support last night, this 10 meg service is fine in daylight,(Ashford Kent) after 4pm it goes all over the place 2meg up to 4 ect,tech/support informed me 10 meg is still on trial,I thought it was released 5th december ?,any one else been told the same.

Re: 10 Meg still on trial ?
From what I have read until the 10Mb system is fully rolled out across the country it is looked upon as still under trial as some areas are still waiting for hardware upgrades etc and therefor the speed is not guaranteed to be stable.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10Mb Discussion (Part 3)
Where did this rumour come from that from next year everyone will be on 10Mb with differing caps dependant on how much you pay?

"...The new product strategy creates a set of “up to 10Mb as standard” cable broadband products with different bandwidth options to match usage plus a series of unlimited products at different speeds. For the first time, a customer will be able to match speed, usage allowance and price to their individual needs. A new broadband user will be able to enjoy the same 10Mb speed as an experienced surfer and as their online expertise grows, simply move up to a higher allowance. Tools will be provided to allow customers to track their usage..." |
Re: *ALL* ntl 10Mb Discussion (Part 3)
I wonder if the change of plan is to do with finding out (a) their would be too much hardware to replace if the entire customer base was upgraded (b) less network capacity then originally anticipated to handle the speed.
