This is about all that Nollywood is fit for. The other night there was an amateurishly made film on. It seemed to be about an uncle in a black family where it couldn't be decided if he had been possessed by an evil spirit or had become mentally ill!

The reason? He had taken to wearing womens clothing and shouting back at those who were shouting at him. There wasn't really an ending...

I imagine that these are the sort of people who would complain about prejudice based on race/colour

Misunderstood completely as the frequency tests are actually channels although not "new to virgin" just duplicates of VMs internal preview channels. I've also said that the BBC Olympic channels are running in the background.

Fox News, Arabic Hafla and the additional NDTV channels have been added to Service Description Tables. A quick explanation, the SDT lists service names, the type of service (TV or Audio basically) and it also lists the transport stream that the services are carried on and the service IDs. (A blind scan on a tv with a cable tuner would read these tables and add placeholders for the channels in case they ever appear).

On checking the transport stream IDs referred to in the SDT, the service IDs for Fox News, Arabic Hafla and the additional NDTV channels don't exist. It really depends on what you call a test. If you feel that the presence of a channel name on internal SI tables qualifies as a test, then feel free to consider this a test. If you feel that a test would involve carrying actual video and audio streams across the national network, these aren't tests.

I really wonder if you actually read my comment before submitting that reply. If you consider these to be tests, then testing a tv channel without video and audio wouldn't be a very advanced stage of testing.

It's a bit like being handed a treasure map, making your way to a remote island and finding an empty hole someone had started digging. The treasure isn't there yet!

When we get info from Media Boy Sources that new "SDT" names of channels appear we like to tell everyone unless we are told Do Not Post.

Virgin Media UK Sources say that Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports Mix HD will launch but still to start testing on the SDT.

Also the two NDTV Channel has just in the last month got the paperwork fix (from Ofcom) to launch.

There's nothing wrong with doing that, as I mentioned earlier there is no smoke without fire. I just wouldn't describe it as a test.

Although they don't "test" on the SDT damn it, it's just a data table. :p:

Ofcom will actually hold back on publishing new licences if the broadcaster considers that releasing the information early would be commercially sensitive. So the publication could be an indication of them coming sooner rather than later. Possibly in the Asian Mela collection with NDTV Good Times?

Ah yes, international channels can certainly highlight any culture gap.

The biggest problems that l have with VM.Is pure and simple.

There staff are rude and pathetic. The CS, is one of the worst departments that l have ever had to deal with.

There Engineers, are poor. And when my mother In Law, had trouble with her box. The guys that turned up didn't have a clue at what to do.

And l have seen some of there handiwork.

And VM treat customers as if we had bottomless pockets. And give us crap channels. Instead od channels that the customer wants.

Each day l go to Hounslow, l see the Sky guys offering deals. I always try and get my wife to switch back to Sky.

True, the Virgin Media subscription prices are too high and the range of channels offered not as good as they could be but I have always found the customer services staff polite and helpful and the engineers skilled and knowledgeable (with one exception although I later learnt that he was a contractor).

Other than pricing and channels I do wish Virgin Media were as quick to introduce new technology as their principal rival.

Completely disagree with this sir. Customer service are good. Though frustrating at times when I'm trying to scam free stuff and they reject me. Once I email the director I get loyalty stuff. Not many companies still do this

The installers and engineers I get are usually good guys. I talked one guy into installing a TiVo for me within 2 mins. I paid for it like but I loved how he went "got one in the van mate" and then provided me with more pleasure by installing it in 20 mins than any sexual incident with a woman.

Please don't be subjective by declaring all staff are rude. I totally disagree. Most members would. You had bad incidents fair enough complain about it but don't declare the whole company like that as its untrue

Yes, if you are polite to them, they are polite and helpful back. I have absolutely no complaints about Virgin's customer services.

Spot on. Go in with the right attitude and you'll get the right results. No harm in charm. :)

Yes, your current provider has a really bizarrely extreme range of views ranging from excellent to poor. http://www.broadband.co.uk/broadband...s/sse/reviews/

Been with VM before it was VM. Never had anything but excellent customer service from them.

Maybe broadband with VM, telly with Sky. That way you are both happy and the forum gets more positive posts :)

I had been a long term VM customer taking all 3 services BB, Phone and TV

I left TV for sky on a years contract (special offer) and have recently returned to VM for TV. We moved back predominantly for the third tuner which IS useful

The TiVo just doesn't do it for me anymore. It's slow when moving between channels and starting to play recorded programmes, on demand is worse than useless and don't even mention trying to use Netflix via it.

Maybe after seeing how slick the Sky box was the step down is a bit of a shock to the system!! :)

I seriously hope that they have the new box in the pipeline in the near future as I suspect when the next price rise comes along I will opt out of my contract and tootle back off to SKY for TV.

Cheers

Stephen

You mean things like VOD, HD, search across multiple providers, and multi-room streaming?

Oh, wait...
