Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1

who is in charge of virgin media channel acquisitions?? I'm asking this question due to the fact i'm concerned they've fallen into a coma or have passed away.

Before i get told "there are channels launching vince" i know that but they're +1 channels or HD versions and the only reason we're getting them is due to the contract being up for renewal.

"HI virgin want to sign up same terms"
"sounds easy enough"
"you get more +1 channels and a HD version we just launched"
"yeah"
"ok see you in 3 years"

Any new channels? nah of course not the channel acquisition bloke is sleeping as new channels knock on the door desperately trying to make a new deal.

Before you state

"but vince they may be asking for a lot and virgin are trying to keep our prices down!!!1"

OUR PRICES HAVE GONE UP BY LIKE A TENNER IN A YEAR.

All virgin are interested is increasing their profit lines. So obviously this new company are looking to sell up by the sound of it and make a tidy profit. Don't get me started on saying its due to broadband work as i've had a utilsation problem for over a year

We cant even get channels which are on blooming freeview! It must be the easiest discussion ever

"hi we're on freeview so we wont be asking for the world...just this amount"
"*gentle snoring*"
(the acquisation man dreams of spending no extra money on channels and putting bills up to a wonderful s%xual profit for his shareholders and maybe a big company buying him out)

and before you say "if youre that unhappy maybe leave". i'm not that unhappy really its just bothers me no new channels are coming except regional channels which they have to show and different variations of current channels. something dodgy is going on by this lack of spending and bills going up.

HD and +1 channels.

i dont know how freeview channels are so hard to acquire though! is anyone trying?? or are they just wanting to build up profits. To a cynic i think its the latter. i think this new company arent going to hang around too long in the uk. we're seeing huge price increases. no new services at the moment. the odd new channel filtering through due to new contracts.

classic strategy of a company trying to sell.

And if customers are unhappy then they should phone up retentions and ask for a better deal , Other then that there are other companies out there who are offering good deals to sign up customers currently.

You're absolutely correct in what you say Den, the only thing holding me back from going totally to streaming, like Amazon Prime for example, is losing the football that I have at the moment with Virgin, if I wasn't a footie fan I'd have dumped the TV package with Virgin yonks ago.

is this happening at the moment den??? i called up a few months ago and it was the most awkward conversation ever.

"so thinking of leaving..."
"whys that?"
"prices too high. got a good offer from sky"
"what broadband speed?"

(at this point i made a figure up and she started tut tutting it was slower"

"we're faster than that"
"yeah but i'm more interested in my costs"
"You have 3 boxes in your house. you'll need to pay more for multi room with sky"

so rather than trying to convince me to stay with her giving sweeteners etc she decided to just bad mouth sky and tell me why i shouldnt go to sky. haha it was so awkward i think i ended it with

"oh so you cant give me anything"
"no"
"*silence*"
i awkwardly hang phone up

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1

Virgin said they could not do me a better deal either. I must say Sky do seem to have some very good incentives to join at the moment such as a free tv or 12 months half price. However Sky is not an option for me due to trees and line of sight etc. I am slightly tempted by Talk Talk and BT but sometimes it is better the devil you know.

I do find it frustrating that most of the time a new channel launches you sort of know it wont be on Virgin for a while.

I do hope that History Hd is one of the channels testing as it is long overdue.

Yes that's the big vexed question in whether BT Sport will be in the XL pack come the start of the football season.

My advice to you Vince is if you are so unhappy even after going through the retentions process that you seriously need to consider another provider as there are some excellent deals out there currently as Sky are offering £100 off through Quidco or if you order online they are offering free LG TV's to customers who sign up to them.

I've got a feeling it will be. VM like to pride themselves on being the only provider to show all live premier league games in one package. Maybe they will use this as a USP??

who knows....but we do need Universal HD lol
