One thing you might want to watch out with antibiotics (Especially strong ones) is that they can cause stomach upsets.

Indeed but eating something small before you take them helps plus its important to drink plenty of fluids as well while on a course of antibiotics.

In the end we went to the UTC this afternoon and after seeing a nurse and GP, were referred to A&E where he had XRays and blood tests. It turns out he has an infection and we've been given antibiotics but I just had to say how good the staff were, given his various problems. He was understandably stressed and confused by events.

The last doctor we saw was Spanish and she was totally brilliant with him. I even asked if she'd had with special needs experience as she was so good with him and that's been unusual since he left the paediatric system. I'll be writing to the trust next week to compliment her approach. It makes so much difference when you're dealing with people who have a natural empathy and she is a terrific asset.

glad you got a good result :)

Oh, and hope the infection clears up soon.

very true I've been in over four weeks now and only ever had one complaint about a doctor (junior registrar) I didny say anything but Natalie complIned to my consultant about the way he spoke to us and we never saw him on the ward again.

Other than that one time everyone else has been brilliant, everyone from cleaning staff / tea makers all the way up. I could even crack a joke with my sugrgeon :)

Love it when that happens. Just thought I'd lost my phone at the hospital this morning but just found it down the side of my chair which is why I couldn't hear it ringing.

Yes, we're on to that prospect - given his normal 'constitution' things could get very messy... :erm: :)

Well they managed to squeeze him in for a DVT Ultrasound and the report came back to say there was no evidence of anything. Due to him being anxious they were unable to scan a couple of minor blood vessels on his lower leg but they got all the main ones so fingers crossed it's just an infection.
He's certainly more his normal self and is in school, albeit hobbling, as I write.
Thanks for all the kinds words. :tu:

The Body is a wondrous thing. I know intellectually how most of it works but when I see how things knit back together, how great gashes in skin heal then it still never fails to amaze me.

On a serious note, please reconsider and post a photo. You can always photoshop any manly bits and bobs that you don't want us to see.

Yay! I found a copy of what I wanted that was stalled in a torrent. It's in 5 parts (VOB files I think) and on a rate limited server ('cos I'm stingey) so it'll take a while to get all 4.7Gbytes but I can be patient.

I had it on VHS from the single time it was shown on UK TV many years ago but my VCR is on the blink.

Direct Line. Had home insurance renewal come through yesterday, over £9 a month. Found a quote for £7.90 a month online, got in touch with them through Twitter and they arranged a callback today and they dd. They have agreed to sort of match the quote by offering £8 a month. Just shows what good uses Twitter can have, it helps customers a lot. Shame the trolls have to ruin it.

Replaced my old Linksys E4200 which was starting to have a little trouble maintaining a reliable wireless network. I replaced it with a Netgear Nighthawk (http://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-R750...=netgear+r7500) which not only maintains a reliable wireless network within the house, but is able to maintain a fairly reliable signal up to the end of my road. As I discovered when I walked back from the chinese and my phone picked up my Wifi at the end of my road.

Our upstairs lighting circuit failed a while back, and I've been looking for an electrician to repair it. Every electrician who quoted (and several have) said the consumer unit and supply line would also need to be replaced. I expected this as we had an old style fuse box. Several of the electricians said that the supply line to circuit had failed, but due to the age of the circuit (over 30 years), they recommended ripping it out and replacing it. Quotes ranged from £900 to £4,500. The electrician that quoted £4,500 decided (against my wishes) that he was going to quote for replacement of *all* the electrical circuits in the house, including adding an extra lighting circuit to bung a light in the loft (which, to be fair, I did enquire about). Even counting that, my research suggested his quote was on the high side.

Found an electrician that was able to replace the consumer unit and the upstairs lighting circuit for £630, and he did it in 6 hours instead of the eight he told me. So, I am quite happy. I will be replacing the other circuits in the house, but that will be as and when I can afford to do so.

One minor downside to all this work. Obviously the electricity was off for a whie yesterday, and I'd forgotton to set up IP reservations on my new router. This has meant everything has come back online with different IPs, which has messed up a few things..

Just finished cleaning the oven.:) Fortunately with an almost black interior I don't have to do too much to that so it's mainly getting the chrome grills and rails shining and the door glass clean. The rails come out easily just being held with a single knurled nut each side.

Demon tip here: Use one of those scrapers with a Stanley blade in, normally used to get paint off windows but the perfect tool for lightening removal of baked-on grease. Keep the blade shallow to avoid scratching the glass.

Well, some good news from my job interview.

I have a trial on Thursday afternoon, apparently everyone goes in at level 1, which is marketing but after 12 weeks and progressing to level 3, you can then choose where in the company you would want to go so if all goes well on Thursday in my trial, I'm aiming to be in the warehouse after 13 weeks.

Thats excellent news Mark.

You enjoy Nash just keep topping up on the sun tan lotion as the weather can be quite deceiving with the breeze in the Canary Islands, Tenerife is the only Canary Island I've not been too but heard it is lovely.

Well, um...
I'm a grandmother, grandma, nanny, nana, nan now.
Tiddle - I'm the only person on the planet that didn't want to be one, I think.
However I had no choice in the matter :D

All involved are doing well and still breathing in and out so... it's a good thing :)

Just got the lecky bill in for the winter quarter: £130 not bad eh? We try not to use electric heating as it's so expensive. Gas was only £75.:)

The LED "filament" bulb came in the post today. Just fitted it in my star lamp in the stairwell and it looks great. Almost indistinguishable from a conventional incandescent but takes only 4 watts and reputedly 30,000 hour life. All nice and sparkly. :)

Lovely meal for Mother's Day, treated my mum and Nan to a Chinese meal (they both like Chinese food) and the plan was to pay for all 6 of us but my step dad got there and paid £50 of the bill before I could. Oh well, shame to let that spoil a good meal.

Just finished making a batch of six fish* pies, #2 ceramic pie dishes. Potato and parsnip mash topping with nutmeg. One each for me and the OH tonight, the rest go in the freezer for 'ron. :)

*Smoked pollock, pollock, smoked herring, cod and salmon. Tastes yummy.

Natalie keeps trying to get me to eat fish again. I must admit she's not having much luck so far.

Although I did have fish pie one night in hospital.

l have to admit that l love fish but some don't like the texture of it as they see it as wet and slimy.
